OMG
This futon has changed my life. I will admit I only allowed mines to air out for a day and a half before losing my mind and giving in to my selfish desires to lay on it. I did flap it like a towel over that day and a half hoping it would speed up the inflation process. It appeared to work somewhat. Now lets get to why I love this futon. I suffer from lower back pain and have heard over the years that futons are good for such things. I am thoroughly impressed by the comfort. It feels like im laying down on a firm bed and I can hardly feel the hard floor beneath me. However, if you do feel like feeling the floor beneath you in anyway could irritate you. I would go with the extra padding option amazon has available above. I would wager that extra padding could make a noticeble difference for even more comfort.Another reason why I bought this is because it will make moving out much easier as a college student. This futon is compact and when folded could fit in your trunk with relative ease. I cant imagine myself going back to using a regular full size bed now. Thank You Luxton I am a happy believer now.

I Traded A Queen Sized Bed For This
There was always something that I liked about sleeping closer to the floor. With the fact that I had to move at the end of last year, I decided that I would get a futon to replace my bed so I didn't have to move a queen sized bed. I was glad that I did as this saves space and it still very comfortable for me to lay on. If you want to sleep closer to the floor on a stiffer surface, I'd recommend this. I find that it helps my back feel much more relieved in the morning as sleeping on a mattress on a box spring on a bed frame would often leave me feeling really sore in the morning. If you need a softer sleep surface, this is definitely not going to fill that role.

Amazing!
I use this to sleep on every night and plan on buying a few more for my son and any guests. Sometimes my 4 year old will sleep with me on a twin size, though I am really small for an adult. I bought this because I was bothered by the size of typical western beds. I had previously slept in a full size bed, but found that I was tossing and turning too much to get a good night sleep, it also took up so much of the room that I didn't have space for a desk or bookshelves. Having a futon that I can roll up during the day allows me to have the space to use the space for other things during the day, and then when those are put away, I can lay out the futon and go to sleep. As a side note, I highly suggest a waterproof mattress pad if you have kids, it's help save the futon from a few spills (long enough that I can take care of the spill). This is also lighter than the other brands of futons, which enables me to easily move it around the house and to air it out, which is a huge plus.

Incredible floor sleeping mat.
Perfection! Any bad reviews are people who probably weren’t prepared for a true Shikibuton. This is a floor sleeping mat meant to train yourself to sleep on a solid tatami mat with a tiny bit of padding. If you have injuries or are a larger bike have caution this is super thin! Smells good and is smooth and delicate. It’s also huuuuge that’s is the best part. You can roll all around and not feel the edges.

Back/hip/leg pain - no more!
I have a bad lower back that has been getting worse as I get older. It's now spreading pain down into my hips and legs all the way to my feet which ache nightly. I rarely get a good night's sleep. Quite by accident (my husband was snoring very loudly one night) I ended up on the floor and it was an eye-opener. I immediately started looking for floor "mattresses" and happened on this one. For the few days prior, I was sleeping on blankets folded onto the floor. This mattress is AMAZING and has changed my life. I sleep better, my back pain is much diminished, I feel like a new person. We ended up buying a second one and some plywood to run over our box springs and are sticking our $$$$ 18 inch mattress into storage and will be sleeping on these floor mattresses on our box springs from now on.I've done chiropractic, acupuncture, had shots, and a nerve ablation - the only thing that has provided any relief (until now) has been acupuncture. My only regret is not discovering how comfortable the floor could be many years ago.

Good First Impression, But Disappoints Over Time
When I first received the "Luxton Home Japanese Shiki Futon Foldable Mattress for Sleep & Travel," I was quite impressed. The mattress seemed supportive and appeared to be a great solution for both travel and home use. The ease of folding and storing it was a significant plus, making it seem ideal for someone like me who values both comfort and convenience. However, after 2-3 months of regular use, my initial impressions have drastically changed. The mattress, which initially felt supportive, has started to sag. This sagging has not only affected the comfort level but also the support that is crucial for a good night's sleep. This has resulted in discomfort, which is disappointing given the promising start. In conclusion, while the foldable mattress starts off as a promising product, it fails to maintain its quality over a few months of use. The issue of sagging and lack of support over time makes it hard for me to recommend this product for those seeking a durable and comfortable sleep solution, especially for regular use.
