If i use this key with an asus hyper m.2 x16 card on a asus x299 motherboard can i use standard samsung 960pro nvme pcie drives?

Intel has 2 VROC keys - Standard or Premium... This appears to be the Standard VROC Key. VROCISSDMOD which is required for HEDTs like the x299 chipset. Only works with Intel NVMe M.2 Drives. You can however use other branded drives without VROC for RAID 0 according to Intel.

Will this support sk hynix pc711 nvme drives in raid 0 on a dell precision 5820?

Don't know about hynix nvmes but it did not work for samsung 980 pros, got it working only using Intel nvmes and when I did I was not impressed buy the performance which was no better then running Windows soft raid using disk manager so I returned it and intel nvmes

I currently have 4 intel drives in raid 0 (pass-through). i assume this key will eliminate the pass-through but does it make much of a difference?

I have (4) Intel 760 Series PCIe (SSDPEKKW010T8) 1TB NVMe on a ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 CARD V2 in a (RAID 10) Configuration. I have the STANDARD VROC KEY INSTALLED. I can tell you that the invesment I made in the ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 CARD V2 ..............WAS WORTH IT!!!! BTW....you can ONLY PUT INTEL NVMe SSD on it...........
