Kirkland Signature Environmentally Friendly Laundry Detergent He Natural Lavender Scent 120 Loads 186 Fl Oz

I'm conflicted as to how to rate this product. The detergent works pretty well. I don't find the smell too strong and have not had any bad reaction to it. However, I bought it because of the "environmentally friendly" claim and then discovered this may be a falsehood. See[...]If this is true, I feel scammed.

Kirkland lavender laundry soap made my daughter break out in SEVERE HIVES AND FOOT/HAND EDEMA..!!! After several doctor appointments I FINALLY have an answer. I GOOGLED IT MYSELF AND SAW OTHERS REACTIONS. NO MORE HIVES..!!!

My husband broke out in a rash like so many others in this review. Not only that, but the detergent actually ate the paint off of my laundry shelf! I can only imagine what that does to my clothes and skin! Returning and now repairing my cabinet shelf. Ugh.

Love this stuff, I think they reengineered the formula and now the scent is very light and pleasant, no skin irritations so far with a batch bought 04/15/14.

I've been using it for 2 months now; used as directed and it has ruined several loads of laundry, especially light colored clothes. I would not recommend this under any circumstances.

I saw this at Costco and thought it would be cool to try something a little more Eco friendly. At first I didn't notice anything out of the norm. I washed some thermals that I use for work and the morning after wearing them to work for about 6 hours, I had bumps on my elbows. I assumed it was just some sort of bug bite and didn't think much of it. Then things got progressively worse. That evening as I was going to bed I was really itchy and I went to the mirror and noticed my entire chest, arms, back and sides were covered in hives. I assumed that the hives were associated with an unrelated cold/sinus infection but boy, was I wrong. I spent the next two days in bed with minor improvement of the rash. On day two, my spouse insisted I go to the doctor. At this point, I had taken Benadryl for the itching and it wasn't as visible as before, but the doctor said detergent could be the problem (along with 1000 other suggestions). Since this is a "green" product, I dismissed what the doctor said. When we got home, my spouse thought it best to wash all our bedding, since I had basically been a sick lazy person in bed for the last 2+ days. Our bedding at this point hadn't been washed in the new Costco detergent. Big mistake! We put the sheets on around 930 pm and began watching s movie. Within 5 minutes I had a crazy amount of hives all over my body. It was now a no brainier that this detergent was the problem. We had to rewash all the bedding that we had just washed. We then went to bed and at about 430 AM I woke up to the most intense burning all over my body. Apparently, re-washing for the purpose of removing this product, requires more than one cycle, and we hadn't fully removed it from the fabric with just one wash.So here I am... Sitting on my couch at 530 in the morning in the only clothes I could find that hadn't been washed in this wretched detergent. I have never had an allergic reaction before to any detergent - including ghetto detergents while I lived out of the country - which seems so ironic since this is the first "green" detergent I have used. Sorry Costco- this ones a loser in my book.

So, if you live near a costco, this stuff is $14 there!!! $39 is insane for the same exact product!!! That being said, this product is wonderful for people who want earth friendly detergent, but still want their clothes to come out, and smell fresh and clean! I have literally tried about 25 different "natural" and "environmentally friendly" detergents (eco nuts, method, biokleen, rockin green, vaska, eco sprout) and they are ok, but either don't have the cleaning power, or have zero scent. I personally don't love overpowering, perfumey scents, but, I also like at least a little of a clean scent, which is what this detergent has. It is great! Also, to those of you complaining about sensitive skin issues, that can be different for everyone, and, this detergent doesn't say it's catered toward sensitive skin, just to be environmentally friendly, biodegradeable, and natural. I love it!

This product sucks. There needs to be a class action lawsuit on this product. I’ve never had allergies before with any product. This product needs to be discontinued immediately.
