Ginkgo Lafayette 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8

Ordered these to replace old worn spotted flatware. The 45 piece set was a good value and so far they are sturdy durable flatware with no issues after washing in the dishwasher numerous times. I am hoping they last as long as the last set of flatware that I had - which is 10 plus years.

I love this pattern. It is a good value and there are LOTS of pieces that can be augmented. replacements.com will make pieces in this pattern for you and they are incredibly reasonable. Sets a beautiful table with the Royal Doulton Maze Blue dinnerware.

I just received this flatware and have to say that I am somewhat disappointed in the quality. I knew I was buying an 18/0 set of stainless but decided to buy this particular set anyway after reading some of the positive reviews about design, weight and value.I guess I'm use to better quality flatware because I find this set to be lighter in weight than I expected. While it has a nice shine to it, it feels somewhat flimsy and the particular curve of the handles almost feel awkward and uncomfortable to hold. The hammered look of the handles is also too subtle for me. I wanted something with a little more detail.I wish I had taken the time to actually go see it in person before ordering because I would not have.I really wanted a new set of flatware for Thanksgiving this year but I will probably send this one back. It is my own fault. I should have realized I would not get the quality I was looking for at this price point.I would say that if you just want something new and shiny on your table and don't want to spend a lot of money this set fits the bill but if you want something that not only looks good but feels solid and will last a long time then you need to spend more on a better quality 18/10 set. It's like anything else for the most part. You get what you pay for.Also, I think I should mention that the 5 piece hostess set is on the small side. Especially the serving spoons. They are just slightly bigger than the regular soup spoon. These are the smallest serving spoons I have ever seen on a flatware set.

I read lots of reviews before ordering this set by Ginkgo Lafayette. Many mentioned rust spots. I have not had any problem with rust but I have just had the set for about a month. I talked with owners of a B&B that have been using the set for two years and no problems. I think that if rust is an issue, you must look at your water quality..any salt in the water? Do you have a water softener or live by the ocean? I absolutely love the set and so does my husband. It is strong and hefty enough without being too heavy like some flatware. This set was a great value and the sender was very prompt. I would not think twice about reordering this set from this vender.

This set said 18/10 stainless, it is not. Also the size and shape of the handles and spoon bowls are different. I have a 18/10 set and purchased this to add to it. The hammering is also different. Very disappointed.purchased

The 45 piece set did not include the hostess pieces as indicated. Hassle to return the entire set instead of getting hostess pieces sent.

The quality is good, love the hammered look. Have had another set of these and they lasted very well, now I have 2 sets.

i smile every time i see these! i was hesitant to buy them because of the price (i'm a kind of a scrooge about some things) but i'm glad i went ahead a purchased them. they're not going to go out of style, they will go with what ever dishes you could possibly ever have, and they're made well. solid and sturdy.
