How would you compare this 23mm/f2 with the 23mm/f1.4? Seems to me that the 1.4 is sharper -is that why it is more expensive?

I have both. The f1.4 is magical. The extra bokeh that you get with the lens is special. It also has a slightly more natural look if you are taking portraits. By this I mean there seems to be a touch less contrast in the image. The f2 is very nice as well. It is FAR lighter and easier to carry around. It truly comes down to your needs. If your #1 priority is image quality over weight then get the 1.4. I got to be honest though and tell you that I didn't take my camera out more than I would have liked specifically b/c I knew how much bigger and heavier the 1.4 was.

Is this lens waterproof?

It is a "WR" lens, so it is moderately weather-resistant. Please keep in mind that only certain Fuji camera's such as the X-T1 and X-T2 are also weather-resistant...Fireside Camera.

If the filter size is 43mm will any screw on 43mm nd filter work with the lens? basically point me to a nd filter for this lens

Yes, any 43mm ND filter will work, screw onto the front of this lens. There are several listed on Amazon. B+W makes excellent filters.

Anyone tried XF23 f2 and f1.4 and chose one over the other? I love the compactness of the f2, but are there situations where the 1.4 is vastly better?

I love the 23mm f2 very compact ideal for street photography,i don't see much difference (only more $$$$$) the 1.4 lens is heavier, I definetly suggest you are better off with the 23mm
