Good
I was worried about buying this cooker after seeing negative reviews, but this cooker is good. Follow the instructions. I had got a 3 litre cooker and it can cook only upto 1 to 1 1/2 small cup of rice sufficient for a small family of 3.Pour a cup of water and then put the given perforated vessel and see that there is slight amount of water coming on top of it and then add the rice and water - 1:3 ratio.I kept the cooker on sim after the first whistle and cooked for 7 minutes (generally I cook like this only in a normal cooker) after almost 10 minutes when the steam has reduced I took out the vessel and transferred the rice to a bowl.If you leave the rice in the cooker, it will start soaking up the starchy water and will not taste fine.I found my rice to not be that kind of brilliant white colour which I used to get in the normal cooker but taste was good.Happy with the buy but if price was a little less it would have been a great buy.

Well cooked rice minus the starch
The Elgi diet rice cooker makes it easy to cook rice and remove starch in the process. You have to experiment a little bit to get your preferred consistency of rice, but once it works well. The only minor issue is that it’s a bit heavy, being made of stainless steel.

Lives up to its name
I have been a huge elgi fan since my first elgi cooker 8 years ago. However I took nearly 6 months time to buy this one. I had a thermal rice cooker which removes the starch. Plus I was skeptical about it's ability.I am happy with the buy and the transition from my thermal cooker. I don't have to strain the starch by manual means any longer which is a huge plus for me. Also this size works perfectly for me. I have cooked so far up to 240ml (1 cup) rice it serves about three adults.I also read the reviews about adding a whole extra cup of water. I found that the lower portion of my rice ended up soggy. I only use half an extra cup and now it works well for me.I would have given it a five except for the finish. The starch drain utensil has two issues1. The rather pointy outside portion of the handle2. Very sharp joints at the base of the vessel. If one is not cautious enough we are bound to get hurt while rinsing the base of the vessel. I bought dish wash brushes and now cleaning the base is a breeze. On the whole I am very happy with the buy.

Confusion over specification
Actually I was about order starch remover 3 L capacity, at that time 3L cooker with starch remover looks with better offer attracted me. Unfortunately, the starch remover used in 3L cooker is not of 3L capacity, it is only 1.9L. Because of this confusing specification I landed up in receiving very smaller insufficient unit, cursing myself. Please beware 1.9L starch remover is supplied in 3L cooker, and 3.0L starch remover is supplied with 5.5L cooker.Be cautious about the capacity while choosing and ordering, otherwise you will land up in unwanted things delivered. Also, don't get lured with the offers, look with great care about the specifications, many a times it can be more confusing.Cooker locking /closing is fuzzy, be careful in using otherwise it will end up in wrong closure and the same is very difficult to open it back - it will be a tough time.

Are u curipous to know this product.
It is ok to have Kanji filtered in this Cooker which reduces calories. It is really a good invention. The problem is sometimes cooked rice is having water which looks odd. Of course it is dependent on the nature of rice we use. The co should do some more testing on water quantity to be used on various rice and include it in their brochure instead of standard measurement of water for cooking. Otherwise it is really good.
