About the Author James Eade (Menlo Park, CA) competed on his high school and college chess teams and became a United States Chess Federation (USCF) chess master in 1981. In 1984 he became a USCF correspondence chess master as well. International organizations awarded him the master title in 1990 (for correspondence) and in 1993 (for regular tournament play), but his chess playing career has gradually given way to chess writing, organizing and teaching.

Outstanding.
The author explains everything a beginner should know about playing chess in a kind-hearted and light-hearted manner.Nothing is taken for granted.Plenty of diagrams clearify the topic at hand. The text itself is quite clear too.It seems the author has planned the book and organized the material very carefully keeping the chess enthusiast in mind. The coverage is wide and deep enough.A learner of any age who is honest enough to consider himself a "dummy" in the world of chess till he becomes a master, will find this book really useful. This book really stands out among many chess beginners books that I happened to come across.
