Bassists dream or demise...?
As a bass player, personally, for having a metal style bass tone, I'd like to keep my low-end and keep the output within all of my effects even. This pedal I thought would help with that given most Bass Compressors cost me a fortune, this almost didn't retain any low end, mainly kept it the same as far as my stock sound is concerned, but did keep the overall output of all my effects (distortion and wah) relatively even and honestly I wished it could do better.

Good bass compressor!!!
A lot of people believe that if it's not a real high-priced compressor then it ain't no good.....this is a good one....I purchased 2 of them.....I'm pleased.

Not noisy if you use a dedicated power supply
The power implementation on this isn’t so robust, it absolutely must have its own dedicated 9VDC power supply, it can’t be shared even if you have an “isolated” power bank. It makes lots of noise if you do. It includes a 9V battery adapter cable if you like contributing to landfill. Now, onto the pedal. As on many of these pedals, the labels are a mystery. It took me forever to diagnose this one but I think I've got it now. It is actually two limiters in series, both with fixed attack and release times of 10ms/100ms respectively. The gain knob isn't makeup gain, it's input gain, and yes it's possible to clip the signal internally (though difficult)."Comp" knob is the overall threshold feeding the two limiters, below a certain combination of input level, comp and gain the unit will just pass audio 1:1. "Attack" is the threshold setting for high-ratio peak stopper, and "Sense" is the same for a lower ratio limiter, not really a compressor per se. Raise "Comp" enough and the "Attack" limiter will engage even if it's set at minimum, the knob just lets you pull down that level more. That is really confusing and I wasn't able to find a manual. So as a starting hint, a totally decent setting is Attack minimum and Sense maximum, and dial Comp and Gain to taste. "Volume" is just an overall output fader, this can be kept at maximum unless you have found you need to drive Input Gain really high to hit the thresholds. What’s the tone like? It’s full and round, to my ear bringing up 3rd harmonic and rolling off some sub bass and highs. You are going to be trading some punch for some sustain with any compressor. This one makes the notes you’re playing very audible and full with an easy legato. You’d click it off for fast staccato work where you want the dynamic punch. The unit does have some self-noise even with a dedicated supply but it isn’t Electro-harmonix loud noise. You will have to gain structure well. Anyway it’s cheap and does the job.

Not bad for the money
I knew what I was buying when ordered this. I did research before.i did. It's cheap and good for the money. The only downside is there is NO battery compartment so you must purchase separately the 9v EXTERIOR adapter or a 9v.power supply SEPARATELY. They should've included the 9v battery adapter at least!!

Nice compressor once you get past the power supply issues
Found it all but unusable most of the ways I tried to power it, and I tried several. Got the best result running it with 12v instead of 9v using a Donner DP-1 pedal power device. It was less noisy at 12v than at 9v (didn't matter whether other pedals were connected or not). The pedal still added some hissy noise until I added a 220uf capacitor across the power input to filter it. Of course the manufacturer does not suggest running the pedal above 9v or modifying it by adding the capacitor so you do those things at your own risk. I tried it because the pedal seemed to have potential, and now I like it. The controls make it versatile, the tone is good (no huge bottom end loss like on some cheap compressors). So I'd say despite the power issues it is a good sounding bass compressor at this price point. If you aren't ready to experiment with power and possibly mod it by adding a capacitor, you are better off buying something that works right out of the box like the Joyo Dyna Compressor.

Looks great but,
Good build quality, but this darn thing doesn't compress as well as the joyo or kokko pedals can't figure out what the sense control does I hear no difference to late to return it also what is missing is a sustain control ,hmmmm a well constructed good looking pedal that's pretty much useless so I thought till I read some tech reviews on Talkbass it's an Optical Compressor and functions a little differently than other types ,crank the sense and gain up then adjust other controls accordingly you will hear the difference.

Get the job done
It gets the job done without breaking the bank I bought it to see if a compressor would fix my issue I was having and found this so now without having spent over $100 my issue is solved so I’ll wait till this dies and upgrade from there

EDIT: It got a little better
Well guys, I really wanted this to work as a compressor/limiter in some sort of way. I unboxed and the pedal looked really good, NEW condition. There wasn't an extra 9V battery/cord as listed, but that was OK. I tried several different 9V power supplies before I got the pedal to actually power ON. The Max LLTo 9V 850mA power supply finally worked. Although the pedal did not make any difference sonically except for the Gain worked like a volume control. EDIT: I returned my original pedal and the replacement worked better. This pedal really isn't what I was personally looking for in a Bass Compressor, but the price was low, so I tried it. I've had this pedal for 4-months at the time of this edit and I don't use it often...it just does not react or work like I want. Its a Limiter but in my opinion not a Compressor.
