This book teaches and demonstrates the basics of Siemens S7-200 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The S7-200 uses Step 7-Micro/WIN programming software. It does this with the Siemens CPU 222 S7-200 PLC. Information is provided to help the reader get and operate a CPU 222, associated hardware, and software. Examples with ladder program diagrams and circuit diagrams are provided to demonstrate S7-200 and Step 7-Micro/WIN capabilities. A person completing the examples will be able to write useful programs for the S7-200. Review: One Star - this book not so usefulll for knowing S7 processor Review: useful for someone to get to grips with Siemens - A good start if you want to get to grips with Siemens, Sadly there's hardly any books out there which cover the S7 300 range which is what I really wanted but this does provide some clever programming examples which is easier to understand than written explanations. It does leave you with as many questions you had before you started because it is still difficult to understand data addressing etc and not really clear on how to input the info into the various functions but to be fair this book covers the S7200 to be programmed with microwin, I'm using Simatic manager to work with S7 300 so I can't really expect it to explain. Overall I'm not sorry I bought it, it's not expensive and some of the examples are certainly helpful

Not very good for newbies
The book is based in examples and cover a wide range of typical application but if you are really new at the use of S7/200 you will not be able to do much, also I wish there was a list of commands because I could not find the specific information I was looking for. Other way is good as a general introduction to the s7/200.
