Great quality hardcover book.
I got the DALI TAROT BOX SET which includes an English, German & French paperback booklet. And, this one has the cards reprinted in "okay quality" as reference with explanations and interpretations added in those three languages small print over a double page for each card. The cards in that set are great / large. It's a great set. NOW: regarding THE BOOK here: ... it's hard-cover, and on glossy paper the cards are printed in same size and quality as the actual cards from the deck, and on the other side of the double page a short but pointed explanation / interpretation is given. The quality of the pages & prints is impeccable. And, as such, I think it's a great book / quality addition to the great deck / box set.

Yes... I adore the deck
Will I ever read with it? Maybe not. Do I love it? I do. So does my wife for whom it was purchased. Is it a 'practical buy'? Not by a long shot (unless it's purchased more as an art piece, or it happens to feel perfect to you). Tarot cards (for reading) should be bought, and used, because they are right for you and you alone. Maybe a $7 deck is "your" deck", which you feel, understand, and can read more intuitively, or maybe this is "your deck"!

Best online experience.
I purchased this from redux_books. Amazing copy, immaculate condition and packaged phenomenally. Took wonderful care of this item. Can not thank you enough! Pages include beautiful illustrations. Wish I lived in MI to visit this adorable antiquarian book store. Highly recommended.

All I got was a book no cards. I sent it back. It was listed as a card deck with a guidebook.

Good supplement to the Dalí Tarot
Rachel Pollack is a preëminent writer on the Tarot, and this book came out in 1983 when no other guide to the Dalí Universal Tarot Deck was available. More recently, Dalí's deck was reissued in a more reasonable , non-gilt-edged version, which includes a full-color explanatory book. Pollack doesn't provide any background information on how Dalí created the deck, or identify all of the known artworks used as the newer book does, however, her explanations pointing out the various elements in each card are helpful. The book is printed on glossy paper and includes full-size, color reproductions of each card, enhancing the reader's experience in allowing an immediate reference to the image itself. She is very good at pointing out minor but significant elements on many cards, along with the "ectoplasmic" figures that often conflict with the card's primary image. It became apparent to me that Dalí intended to incorporate each card's reversal within it, and this was the system he used. I've always been skeptical of standard reversals, finding that they indicate nothing more than one's having inadvertently lost track of which end of the pile was which when shuffling the deck.If you're looking for basic information on reading tarot cards or relating them to life experiences, there's not much of that here, and it may not even be necessary; more than any other deck, Dalí's demands an imaginative and creative approach to understanding the cards. His images are complex and operate on multiple levels. If you're at the stage where you feel the need to consult the Little White Book, you're on your own here; for that I would recommend Waite's classic Pictorial Key to the Tarot , Pollock's own Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom , Mary Greer's Tarot for Your Self , or, even if you aren't using or even dislike The Robin Wood Tarot , Ms. Wood's book contains a great deal of useful and accessible information. However, for anyone who uses or enjoys the Dalí tarot, Pollack's book can provide an additional dimension to this strange and beautiful deck.

Surreal tarot
A brilliant deck and this book, although brief does point out some useful details about the art work and inspirations behind it.
