Battery charging & charger
I am writing this review in hopes of clearing up problems with new batteries not charging.I ordered the pair of dewalt 20v 6 amp batteries.upon receiving the batteries they had 1 bar filled on the power indicator. I put them into the charger I already had dcb 115. The lights on the charger indicate they are charged, even though the battery is still showing 1 bar filled. I had the items replaced, they sent a new pair of batteries out.The new batteries had the same problem. one battery in the new pack even had the light for temp activate. even thought they sat in the house for 2 days.I was about to return the batteries and somebody told my it was the charger. Even though they tell you its universal and any charger will work...they wont. Today I purchased the dewalt fast charger DCB118. and the batteries are taking a charge, finally. it only cost me another $95.00Since they sent a second pair of batteries and all 4 are charging, I guess that makes up for needing to buy another charger. The sellers may want to add that to the description: THAT YOU NEED THE DCB118 FAST CHARGER FOR THESE TO WORK.

Surprisingly effective
I own 23 Dewalt tools that use these batteries, mostly purchased as bare tools, and 6 of these 6 ah batteries. That includes outdoor equipment like a chainsaw and blower, saws and multi-function tools, and a variety of hand tools like sanders, drills, impact drivers, and lights. Obviously I don't use them all at the same time, so in my view buying the tools and batteries separately is the best bang for the buck, especially when paired with rapid chargers. I love the interchangeability of the 20V max system and these higher-end batteries last quite a while. For example, it only took two of them to use their 12" chainsaw to down a 30 foot tall tree, trim the branches, and cut the big stuff up into firewood. I'm amazed and impressed that I got all that done on just two batteries. So far none of them have died, no matter how old they are, but the price has been coming down over the last few years and I pick up a new pair whenever they go on sale so I'll never run out.

Seemed fine until they died an early death. (updated)
So here’s the deal… These batteries worked fine for a year or so, both have died and will not take a charge. Yes I tried all the known tricks, still dead. I have many DeWalt batteries which I have had literally years longer than these. Whether it was a bad batch or what, this is NOT the quality I expect from DeWalt. Update, DeWalt is standing behind their product and sending replacements, pretty cool of them.

As expected
I absolutely HATE the price of lithium batteries. That said, these are competitively priced so that's a "thumbs up". If you use DeWalt gear and don't want to trust off-brands or use adapters for other name brand batteries, these are the way to go. These 6Ah batteries are necessary if you are using serious juice sucking tools like weed eaters, where you absolutely don't want to waste your money on anything less than a 5Ah battery. That said, even these 6Ah's will only give you about a 45 minute run time with a weed eater, so make sure you have a rapid charger - or a LOT of batteries if you have a lot of ground to cover.

These batteries are the "BIG DOG". Buy the others if you are using a "fly" blower for 10 minutes.
As a California Class A General Engineering Contractor that uses about every tool made by Dewalt these batteries are the BIG DOG on the porch. They outlast every other 6AH battery including the XR - worthless batteries.
