Such a great book!
We have read this book for 11 years as it is one of my children's favorite books. A must for every family's bookshelf! I am buying this as a gift for a new baby as it has been a timeless book as my kiddos are now older. Talks about all the ways to be kind when sharing and making cookies. It's a book that really helps kids understand the value of being kind.

Great Book!
I fell in love with this book! It’s so adorable and the kids have an easy way to understand the lessons! They can understand the cookie analogy way more than I would have explained on my own!

Tasty Terminology
Wondering how to teach your preschooler or young child about putting others first? This book offers a sweet way to gently teach a child the meaning of cooperation, gratitude, honesty and more. Each character trait (positive or negative) is illustrated with a vignette relating to baking, eating and sharing cookies. The pictures are charming and endear children to the attributes. My 3 year old daughter requests this book over and over again and we enjoy the pictures and the humorous, sweet explanations. My favorite shows a little girl reaching over a long table to hand part of her cookie to a tearful kitty cat who has just dropped his cookie on the floor. It reads, "Compassionate means . . .Don't worry, it's okay. You can have part of my cookie." We all have something to learn from this book.

"Helping a Child Sort Feelings....In a Complex Situation"
This is a perfect book for a young school child who may be experiencing some emotional roller coaster feelings. Any number of reasons can trigger these weak emotional tides. Sometimes, the child is traumatized by something; othertimes, the child may be feeling insecure at home or at school. Without making the situation worse, simple lessons of every day experiences can be shared so as to allow the child to navigate his or her own way through the problem. The author covers important concepts such as "trust", "respect", "trustworthiness", "politeness", "loyalty", "patience","regret", "forgiveness", and "love", in the form of manners; we know that the heart is fragile and the child needs to see some kind of concrete illustration of how to handle difficult situations. Once the book is read, the child will be able to use it as a temporary resource when some uncomfortable feeling creeps in. The clever dialogue in explaining the term will allow the child to sort out the solution in a way to make it more manageable. It's not really a cookie recipe book; it's a metaphor for handling difficult situations with cookie-size portions of care.

FUN, WONDERFUL & SPECIAL BOOK FOR KIDS!
What kid doesn't love cookies!? My son told me he wanted a cookie book the last time we were at the library. So I went online looking for one and found this. It has a wonderful way of teaching important values while cookies are the basis of the lesson. My son (just turned 4) completely understands the way they describe each life lession in regards to cookies. So clever! We read it 4 times the first day and have read it at least once each day since. I highly recommend this book for anyone with kids!

Love the writing, teaches "big words", just not my favorite illustration style.
This (and all the cookies books) are FANTASTIC for introducing big words. My 4 year old has picked up quite a few from this book and uses them in her daily speech because she knows the "right word to use" for what she means. If you want to encourage a large and mature vocabulary in your little ones, this is a great place to start. The book also includes some REALLY good lessons in empathy and honesty. Thumbs up. I took off one star because I wish the book's illustrations were a little more engaging and saturated, but I generally prefer less realistic illustrations. Just personal preference, and definitely no reason to avoid this great book series. :)My favorite favorite favorite Amy Krouse Rosenthal book so far is This Plus That. It's beautiful. She partnered with a different illustrator and it's just lovely. I want to frame every page.

Timeless values
My friends have showers for those about to become grandparents. We gift the honoree with children's books. This way, when the grandchildren come to visit grandma/grandpa will be equipped with a book collection for storytime. This book will definitely be included in our list. The artwork and story are beautiful and always appropriate.
