Just a heads up...
About 6 months ago I was a Sonic comics newbie. I had played the PC games as a youngster and loved them a lot. Sonic was always a favorite. When I found the archives here on Amazon, I got excited and bought the first few. Immediately I was hooked and kept buying more. Then they started having spur stories branch out into Sonic Select and Knuckles the Echidna books. This wasn't much of a problem until this book (Archives 15) when instead of starting a story and having it carry on or conclude in a Sonic Select or Knuckles book, they had volumes in Archives 15 that completed or concluded stories they started in the other series books.I'm a big chronological-minded guy, so when I'm reading these stories in the archives and suddenly I'm in the middle of something that began in a book I don't have, that gets frustrating. So, this is a heads up. If you're going to read Sonic Archives 15, and aren't cool with reading stories out of order, you will also want to have read up to Knuckles the Echidna Archives volume 2 and Sonic Select volume 3.

Great comic series with wonderful illustrations
With a reluctant reader, I used these comic books as a reward for my son after he completed reading a chapter book. I know I was bribing him, but it worked. He loves these comics, though there isn't much dialogue or serious reading involved. He reads through it probably in less than 30 minutes, but it's one he revisits as entertainment. He also enjoys drawing, and he often draws the characters from these comic series. His older sister (middle schooler) also enjoys flipping through the series. We first discovered these comics at our local comic book store, and it's so much cheaper through Amazon.

Book
This book was good because it started the adventure that Sonic and Tailsgo on by themselves. Plus, Monkey Kong was in it and I knew him fromreading the the new adventure in the newer comics and it was nice to seehow he looked liked from before.

A new adventre begins
in the late 90s, things were not going well for Sega, but Sonic's comic's were doing great. In this volume, we see the last of the loose ends from the first 50 issue be tied up,and then we see Sonic and Tails go on a quest that would last a whole year.but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Lets dive in.Issue 55 - Sonic and Sally investigate a pod, only to discover a new character named Monkey Kahn who abducts Sally, and Sonic must save her. This was the first issue that was written and illustrated by Frank Storm, and it has a very interesting style to it. everything has this strange Asian style to it, like an anime for the 70s. The rest of this story is decent. Its just Sonic trying to talk sense into a new character, there's not much to it. THe second story is much better though. This story is build up to the next issue and an up coming special. And it's quite good and even has a theme of prejudice behind it.7.5 out of 10Issue 56 - Mamoth Mogule (from the Mecha Madness special) has tken the sword of Acorns and took over Angel Island. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails must team up to stop him. Despite the art being quirky in the first half, there's something quite epic about this issue that really gives me thrills when I read it. Also, the main fight is lots of fun to read through and it's great to see Tails get his biggest time to shine yet (I wont spoil anything here), IT's agreat one.8.5 out of 10Issue 57 - Before Sonic and Tails head out to find Naugus, they discover a memory machine that shows a summery of everything that happened from the very beginning of the series. This issue has a massive flashback sequence that recaps the entire first 5+ years of the Sonic comics up to that point. My only problem with this issue is that the flashback sequence doesn't accurately describe the events of those past issues (it even acknowledges the stories that are not cannon), pretty much due to Karl Bollers being a new comer to the comics at the time. Though I will say that the final scene in this comic with Sonic and Sally is pretty heart warming.7.75 out of 10Issue 58 - Sonic and Tails are prisoners in an unknown land, but Knuckles is able to help them along with some new faces. this issue marks the introduction of Robo the Hedge and his wife Maryane. This issue has a lot of references to robin hood, and I should mention that it also ties into the Knuckles comics as well, or at least for half an issue of the Knuckles comics. Anyway, it's a fun issue and there is not much to say about it.8 out of 10The quality is much more consistent here, but we are also seeing some new talent as well. From here on out, we really begin to see the world of this comic expand to the point were it takes an identy of its own. And yes, It's recommended.
