This power supply is a good unit for beginners, its footprint is pretty small on a desk, it is silent when used with small draws, pretty accurate in readings whether voltage or current drawn but it lacks the possibility to set a current limit along with a voltage setting. That means this unit can only do constant voltage or constant current, not both at the same time which, for some applications is a serious drawback. My unit is 2 years old and still performing well, though I did not mishandled it or pushed to its limits very often. As it is a switching power supply, expect some capacitance especially when powering of (power fades slowly) and powering on (power surges suddenly with over voltage ).

Worked fine until something inside fried blowing the fuse and when replaced it blew that one too. Was not used in a manner outside its purpose so it should have lasted way loner then that.

I am getting back into electronics as a hobby and I was looking for a cheap variable power supply. This almost fits the bill but I wish I would have paid a little more and gotten the 10 amp version. I thought 5 amps would be plenty starting out but just a string of programmable LED lights draws more current than 5 amps. If you are absolutely sure that 5 amps is enough for your needs then by all means get this but otherwise spend a little more and get at least a 10 amp power supply.

I used this power supply for medical research flow regulation, and it has worked very well. The only negative was that it arrived with only three of four feet and no identical part replacement was available. Amazon help offered reimbursement for aftermarket feet, none of which really fit. Quarter inch thick stick-on rubber foam stabilized it. It's quite a good power supply for the price.

Small, weighs less than advertised 8 pounds, very quiet and well built. Fits nice in my work station since I don't have a lot of room to work with. Measured with a Fluke multi meter and its dead accurate.

I will be using this for etching, plating, and the occasional electrical project. It was as described, and functions well. Smooth adjustment potentiometers, crisp and easy to read display, and good build quality. It regulates well and is accurate. A good value over all. So far I have no disappointments, and if it proves itself over time I would not hesitate to purchase a second higher amperage unit.

Works well, great value. Tested it as a power source for a stepper motor, also tried shorting the output and it handled it at the max rated current. Only downside is that the current limit value only shows up on the display when it's reached (need to short or connect to load to accurately modify it). An output bottom to allow for current and voltage adjustments while it's switched off would make this perfect.

Provides very constant power and is easy to setup. It comes with large alligator clips so you might need something smaller if you are going to be hooking them on to something small. The course adjustment is a bit touchy so be sure to only connect your leads after your voltage is set.

Liked everything about it. I use this product to supply power to my foam cutting bows. the bows I use range in size from 26 in to 50 in in width. the wire I use Nichrome 26 gauge or Rene' 41 super alloy 27 gauge wire. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

This unit’s dials are very sensitive- there is a learning curve - but once you figure it out, it’s awesome for electroforming.
