Can you wear the softsole boots outdoors?

Softsoles, by their very nature of lacking a more structured rubber sole, are more suited for use as indoor shoes. Without rubber soles, softsole moccasins are ill-suited to be worn outdoors on concrete and pavement.

If I'm a half size, 8.5, would you recommend a size 9?
