I can't speak to how well it works as a litter box because the build quality was so horrible that I returned it immediately upon opening. The opening looked as though it was cut out with a chainsaw (or a 4 year old with scissors as my 17 year old son put it). At least a dozen really sharp edges that could easily snag and cut a cat hopping in or out of the box. I will include a photo for reference. Before you go calling me picky have a look for yourself. If this item cost $20 I wouldn't have much to say but $40+ for a basic litter box and one would expect a much higher build quality. I also had issues even getting the lid to line up so it could be snapped into place. And to top it all off it looked like someone drug it behind a car with all of the scuff marks all over the thing. I really can't believe the amount of positive reviews this product has received based on my experience.I honestly am not even interested in replacing the item due to the fact that there must be absolutely zero QC at the factory where these are made and I have no desire to repackage and drop off two of these pieces of junk at the UPS store.

I did a lot of research on boxes and finally found this. My cat is half russian blue and half siamese. She needs to see outside the box so the clear cover on this is genius! This box cured the problem of my cat peeing over the edge of her litter boxes. She instantly took to this box and has never again made a mess. There is no leak, no issue with the attached cover. It's easy to clean and I am just so very thrilled with this box. I think it's the only one out there that meets all the needs. I've had it for about 6 months and no issue.

I already have several of these so obviously I am fairly happy with them. I don't understand the term "side entry" because the entry is in the same place as other litter boxes. It also described it as being "triangular" which is confusing because it's oval in shape. My biggest complaint is the same as I have with other covered litter boxes and that is that if you have a cat who pees "high" the urine can run down the inside of the hood and leak out where the lid attaches to the box. I have read many reviews of this and other boxes that complain of the same thing so I know my cat isn't the only one to have this odd behavior. I can't understand why some manufacturer can't solve this problem and come up with a different way of attaching the lid to the box so the urine doesn't leak out. I've tried everything to solve the problem on my own but the only easy solution is to always keep a piddle pad under all the litter boxes which I then have to change once or twice a week. As for the delivery of the product, it was prompt, on time, and well packed. Other than the problem I addressed above, the quality of the box and materials used are as described.

I have two cats, one small, the other large. I bought this litter box specifically for my large cat. Although my large cat thought she was peeing inside the litter box while using it, she was inadvertently peeing outside the box due to her long, tall, and large size. She also did not do well with other covered litter boxes because of her fear of going through tight openings (in the front) or her old age that prevented her from climbing on top of a litter box with a top entry/exit opening. This litter box is really high and the opening is perfect for her size. In addition, because of its clear top, my large cat can see around her and does not get paranoid of walking into it. My only reason for not rating it top 5* is the shape of the litter box. I am sure people with small bathrooms appreciate this box, but I wish it was a large rectangle rather than elliptical and slightly longer and wider. I am still fine with this box and my large cat is handling it fine. I was afraid of not getting her acclimated to this box, but I just put it in place of the old one, filled it with clean litter, and left it in her paws to do the rest. Voila! She cooperated. My cat and I are happy campers.

Let me start off by saying that I've got 5 cats. 5 cats that love to eat and generate a commensurate amount of waste afterwards. I ordered this box after adding 2 kittens to our fold. Prior to that we had one HUGE litter box but it just wasn't enough for 5 cats. The kittens were very young and had a propensity to kick litter out of the pan so I was specifically looking for a litter box that had a cover on it.I choose this one after reading other reviews and because it looked bigger than it's similarly priced competitors and that was a big concern for me. I ended up ordering 2 since I was having such a huge issue with litter dust. I received them both in a few days and set them right away. Right away I decided not to use the tabs on the side of the box. I found them a little hard to open especially if you're squatting down on the floor at such an awkward angle. Not using the tabs doesn't affect anything and I haven't had the cats knock the top off in fact it just makes it easier to open and clean. The younger cats took to the box immediately but the older ones didn't seem to like the lid.The lid went a long way in helping keep the litter dust down. The box operated (as much as a litter box can "operate") as advertised though the shape is a little awkward. The kidney bean shape is pleasant to look at but makes it hard to scoop. The box fits the smaller kitties well but our monster Ollie Kat who weights 14 lbs has a hard time squeezing his considerable bulk inside.Unfortunately the second box I bought is sitting in the garage since the older cats really don't seem to like it as much. This is definitely a great box for people with small-ish cats!

Am I the only one that finds it horrifying that this thing does not have a handle on it?? That's a deal breaker for me. I'm going to assume that because the plastic is so thin, they were afraid to put a handle because it would not hold up with the first grab. Also, the lid is clear, not white. Which is kind of weird - - why does anyone want to see in there??I like to find something positive in everything. So I will say that it is quite large. So if you want a large litter box that you can see the poop in, but have to grab around the bulky thing to carry it to change the litter, this is the box for you!
