You can slice any vegetable or fruit on this mandolin as long as it's firm. If you're a super fast slicer, I suggest you get the upgraded model with the hand guard so you don't slice your fingers. Can be dangerous if you're inexperienced. It is extremely sharp. You must, at all times be aware and no what you're doing. This is a wonderful product but be careful. This is a professional model mandolin and works extremely well but is very sharp.

the blade isn't sharp, tried to julienne a carrot, had to exert an unsafe amount of force. I have returned the item.
