Could it be left in the rain and keep the water out?

Are these lid easy to open or close?

The lid doesn’t attach to the body at all, so it’s very easy to open. It’s essentially held on by gravity so the top continuous hinge is the only thing connecting the two halves. It’s ridiculously overpriced for what you get, but we had to have it for working in a hospital where we had to cover the debris on its way out.
