Vivobarefoot Men's Freud Leather Sneaker

I love these shoes. They are super comfortable and feel like wearing slippers. I am a woman and I bought these because I'm tired of the foot problems I have from buying shoes that crowd my toes and lift my heels (putting pressure on the balls of my feet and giving me metatarsalgia). The men's shoes look closer to Converse than any of the women's ones, especially after I put white laces in them.There are only a few caveats to these shoes, but even with that, they still get 5 stars from me.1) Expensive. But, they are made very well and have so far held up fantastically, just like the Vivibarefoot Kali's I have. So, it's worth the price. Plus, these are leather.2) The sole rubber that's above the stitching is painted black, and this black wears off, especially on the other shoe when you bump your bunion-area together. Personally, I would have loved it if the rubber was just left white up there. This isn't a big deal, since most of the wear-off is between my feet, but it does look a little funny.3) ***These shoes are not for winter.*** As you might guess, they offer very little insulation, but even worse, they have absolutely no grip on ice. Every other pair of low-traction shoes I own at least stick moderately to the ice, but these might as well be a pair of skates. Its very difficult not to slip on the ice, and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at carefully treading over ice.All of that said, I'm in love with these shoes and I'm so glad I bought them. I'm not a runner, but I enjoy being able to feel what I'm walking on. It helps me react appropriately (I'm prone to twisting my ankles with "regular" shoes) and keeps my arches naturally toned (unlike arch support shoes which actually weaken the arches).I can also put my ProKinetics insoles in these, so I don't have pain from my Morton's Toe, even though there's no sole cushioning! I love that these shoes come with removable insoles, because I can either put my PK insoles under the VB ones, or just take the VB ones out altogether.These are my second pair of Vivibarefoot shoes, and they won't be my last. I even bought a pair of these very same shoes for my husband and he loves them too.

Great leather sneaker style in a minimalist shoe. I'm not thrilled with the quality of the leather (splotchy colors) and the way the stitches between the upper and sole are so visible, but for minimalist shoes there aren't a ton of options.Like the Aqua Lites, the Freud has a hexagonal pattern on the sole, which provides predictable traction on all surfaces. It makes it easier to avoid slipping compared to rubber soles, which provide tremendous traction on some surfaces (cement) but very little on others (wet steel grates, wet marble).Note that I found these significantly larger than the Freud in canvas. I normally wear 42 for Vivobarefoot Aqua Lites and Ultras, and wear a 43 Freud canvas (fits like a typical 42 for Vivobarefoot) anad a 42 Freud leather, which still felt a bit loose.

This shoe looks and feels great. This is my second Vivo shoe (I also have the Gobi) and both are a joy to walk in. I would recommend this shoe if you want a barefoot shoe that can go well with a nice pair of pants.

Not terrible but after a year of sporadic light wear they look much more beaten up than my other shoes and the rubber sole is separating from the upper at the toe

I guess I expected too much, but I am not satisfied at all with my Vivobarefoot Freud. I was so happy to get my first pair of minimal shoes (I'm an avid barefoot walker) and looking forward to wear them all the time, but as soon as I tried them and walked a bit they started hurting me from behind where theres the small thing to help you put the shoes, on and I had a small cut on my skin! I still gave them another try (i paid over 100$ to get them :/) - I admit the pain in the back was reduced but still there, and I started having pain in my toes as well. And in terms of the "experience" I barely felt the difference between my regular shoes and the Vivobarefoot even after removing the sole. To make the matter worse, they are already tearing after 3 times using them! theres a string that is loose from the front of the shoe which is noticeable and ugly. So no I (sadly) do not recommend these shoes.

What can I say. I love these shoes. Very comfortable, stylish with great build quality. Loads of room in the front which is great for people like me with wide forefoots. I wish I had bought 2.

I was looking for a Zero-drop shoe appropirate for hospital work, that was wide enough for my foot. I typically wear a 14-EE, which are rarely wide enough if they can be found, but this shoe is great. I wear it every day to work. The leather qulaity is great. the Insole is holding up well. The shoes are a little funny underneath the first lacing, but otherwise very satisfied. This shoe is flat, wide, and has almost no cushion whatsoever, but I have never had a day where my feet have hurt. Of course I do run barefoot. The sole is fairly grippy for tiled floors!

This is my second pair of Vivos. My first was a few years ago and I loved those, but they lasted far less than a year. After that, I had a few pairs of Merrell's barefoot shoes (Tough Glove and Tour Glove) which were nice, and lasted longer 1-1.5 years worn everyday). But the Merrells didn't have the same ground feel and they've discontinued all of the casual shoes like the Tough and Tour gloves. So I got these.So far, I like them a lot. My 2 biggest complaints are that they're a bit tough to put on, the leather is pretty stiff (when compared to the Merrell Tour gloves), and the black rubber that's between the sole and the upper is actually just a thin layer that comes off easily. Under it, is white rubber. This isn't a huge deal, hence only deducting 1 star, because when it's all gone, that band of rubber will match the sole and look fine (I hope).
