An Awesome easy to use product.
OMG this product has helped me retrieve so many hundreds of photographs. It is so easy to use & the Digitnow software is fantastic too. Depending on what time of day the original photo was taken, the software lets you change the saturation, brightness, contrast etc. I used it for 35mm film negatives only & the software works on both MacOS & Windows 10, although I preferred the interface on MacOS. Importing the scanned negatives using the Photos app in MacOS gives you even more editing capabilities. The brush provided with it was also very useful to clean the scanning surface. If you're really serious about the scanned quality, just be prepared to be patient while scanning & editing. Great value for money & way better than the build your own box videos seen on YouTube.

Good value
For the money it is a good buy especially if like me you need digitise over 14,000 slides in a time efficient way. The software driver is good but you cannot rotate slide before saving which is fine once you know. There are a couple little issues the slide container and the image detector are misaligned by about 3 degrees. Not a massive problem but a bit annoying. Also if doing a lot of slides it tends to stop working properly after 30 minutes continuous use so let it cool down for an hour and then its fine.

No use with a Mac
This is supposed to work with Mac as well as Windows. It does not.Firstly - it comes with an install disc not download. You can find a download on the Internet as it seems that under the covers this product is actually Digitnow and their website has the download. However, my Mac objected to this as it couldn't verify it. So I got a CD reader, plugged it in and installed from the disc - same problem, my Mac will not install it as it cannot verify it.Returning back to Amazon

Basic but functional
First off, I could not get it to work on my PC with Windows 10. I tried it on my wife's laptop with Windows 8.1 and then it worked.I had over 1000 slides to convert and did not want to spend a huge amount of money, because for the most part the pictures were of limited interest to me, but I went through the motions out of a sense of duty I suppose.Picture quality is OK, though I had to adjust the brightness constantly. Most of the pictures were black and white so colour wasn't an issue really. It's easy enough to use, just put the slides (or film) into the holder, push them through 'til you see the image, press click, and move onto the next one. Once you have done a strip, click the save button. If your pictures are important to you then you might want to look for something better than this, but for me it did the trick.

Old Photos Restored
I was able to enhance all of my photos from years gone by. Tricky to get the software downloaded, but once achieved it was straightforward.

It's just a webcam with a macro lens
The software doesn't even work on modern operating systems. You will have to use the Camera program on your pc to access it as it's literally just a low resolution webcam with a corrected lens. The images will appear a bit grainy like a webcam, so basically you get what you pay for. The slide holder gets stuck in the device every time, so may need a bit of strength just to swap them out.You may get better results just placing your negative against a light source and using the macro feature on your phone, compared to this device.

Slide cassette jammed, software didn't work
The product looks good but the slide cassettes jam so you can't enter them into the viewer without brute force. To fix it you'd have to sand paper the slide cassette.I didn't get as far as using it because the downloaded software didn't recognise the scanner as a media source.I couldn't use the drivers packaged with the product as they were on a mini CD that only works with a tray type disk drive and not a front-loading CD.But what p***ed me off more than anything was that when I connected to help- to a chat I was connected to 'Demi'. Demi turned out to be a mediocre AI that replied to what I wrote:"Look, I'm no Rick Deckard but it's pretty clear that you are an a.i. routine. It's quite insulting and devious to be deceived into thinking that I am talking to a person called 'Demi'. Yes I will return the product for a refund and I will also leave the worst review possible and I will also contact my local MP to raise the question of whether it is ethical to be deceived in this way."With this: "Jack, as much I love to process you replacement, but Amazon no direct control on the inventory and only the one shipped the item"
