Hearty Slow Cooker Soups & Stews Paperback – February 28, 2013

There is nothing like a hearty bowl of soup to take the chill out of a cold rainy or snowy day! Hearty Slow Cooker Soups & Stews is an excellent recipe book! I love to be able to make dishes in my slow cooker -- to come home to a meal all ready to eat!The recipes in this book are well-written and easy to follow. There is nothing left to chance. I really like the fact that the recipes contain ingredients that are readily available, and in most instances I already have in my cupboards! I also really like the variety of recipes. Today I made the Butternut Squash Soup -- easy to make and simply delicious! But I also plan on making this week the Spicy Chipotle Sweet Potato Soup -- and I know that my family will love the Italian Sausage and Bean Stew!I also enjoyed reading the tips and information provided by Mike and Molly before each recipe. I felt like they were right in my kitchen as I cooked and it made this recipe book really fun to read!

I have viewed some of the recipes and recognize a few as hits, as we eat them at home already. Pics might help some but it does give great easy recipes that even I can cook with. Thanks for the recipes as I am sure that my family will enjoy the ones we haven't tried yet.

I'm gluten intolerant and have to adjust recipes for my use. I found one recipe I wanted to try as many are spicy and use peppers. I'm not very adventurous. If you are some of the recipes could be fun.

Thank you Mike and Molly Malone! This book is packed full of wonderful recipes for slow cooker soups and stews.There's a terrific recipe for chicken noodle soup. I haven't had home-made chicken soup since my mother made it over 20 years ago. The butternut squash soup and the sweet sweet potato soup (yes sweeter than sweet potato soup) also sound delicious. The latter has bacon in it to add a salty taste to the sweetness of the other ingredients. Yum!There's quite a variety of stews as well. I can't wait to try their bbq beef stew and their chicken stew. They sound fantastic!Not being a gourmet cook, I'm glad that the recipes don't call for any fancy ingredients that I wouldn't be able to find in my neighborhood grocery store. Also, the directions are clear and easy to follow.In their introduction and Meet the Authors page, Mike and Molly Malone sound like a terrific, fun couple, and they certainly know their slow cooker recipes.

You can’t go wrong with food topics or educational pursuits which will increase your social status, give you higher self-esteem, and enable you to possibly advance in your career. Whether it be wine, recipes, “how to” or public speaking, it may give you a pointer that will help you in some position to enhance your life. Self help and/or books with situations and outcomes are great for motivational self training. Being able to give pointers in social situations – dinners – “hey, did you see that recipe for ***” is a great conversation starter and can get more people to join in the discussion. Good idea, in my opinion.

When I don't have time to cook, I turn to my slow cooker. I've gotten some other slow cooker cookbooks from amazon and they've been a crock! This book is well put together with tasty and easy to make recipes.The things I especially liked were:- the variety of recipes- the clear directions- the personalized notes about each recipeI'm looking forward to cooking more from this cookbook!

Isn’t what was expected.

I love my slow cooker but rarely used it for soups and stews, preferring instead to use it to slow cook meat/roasts. This, therefore, was a great little find and has helped me to find new ways to use my slow cooker. The recipes will be great for when cold weather kicks in and soups and stews will be on the menu again!

Its all good.

Bought this for someone else with a very demanding job hoping that it would enable good hot meals on arrival home. Start off was a bit hit and miss which was unexpected as I thought it would be very simple. A few weeks on and she's getting used to it and I think with practice it will be fine

Not that many recipes, and very Americanised ingredients. It would have been better if British alternatives could have been provided for some of the branded ingredients.
