great tile saw for a great value
I happened to buy this saw during the sale that gave the tile stand for free ($89 value), as well as getting the $110 off sale price. With the free shipping I got a screaming deal. I am a weekender home repair guy so this was perfect. The MK101 is what I usually rent from Home Depot, so this is a little step down from that. Very easy setup. The tray does not run as smoothly as the MK101. Difficult to grease the bearings as it is so wet, of course. Everything else is pretty much the same. 5 stars for value. And 4 and a half stars for performance.

Great work tool
The tool does a lot of work steady will cut the larger tiles. Not as noisy as some of the smaller machines. Needs some space to use and is a little heavy for one guy to move around well.

Perfect - SEriously!
This is really a great tile saw. Easy to use, extremely well built, powerful enough for everything we wanted to use it for including granite, bath tiles, ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, travertine and more. Made quite work of it all plus clean-up is easy. Durable, heavy little bugger but works like a charm.

Excellent tile saw
I originally bought model 158189 in 2003 from another vendor. I was surfing the web to see if i could get a PDF manual for reference. To my surprise, Amazon sells model 158189. I couldn't be happier because it is such a good tile saw and proves what a well designed tool it really is. One feature is that it is designed to be taken apart to be cleaned without disturbing the multi groove drive belt.I went to Lowes this morning, they use an M K Diamond saw for tile cutting. If this saw is within your budget, don't hesitate. It is a great tile saw.

"Outstanding Tile Saw"
The MK-100 10" 1 1/2HP Tile Saw is an excellant saw for the money. I researched many different brands and sizes of Tile saws. I wanted one that could cut a variety of different types of tile and the ability to diaginaly cut twelve inches. I talked with an MK service rep and he said the MK 100, their newest saw, was basically the same saw as the 101. It does have a different motor and there is no cover over the slide assembly. The MK-100 will cut 12" floor tile in about three seconds. The saw sounds the same as the 101, basically the same machine, just two or three hundred dollars less expensive. The saw comes with a very good instruction booklet and everything needed to cut tile. The Diamond blade could be better, but you can easily replace it when it becomes dull.I highly recommend this versatile saw to anyone that wants a great saw , at a great price.

Easy to use entry level pro quality saw
Realizing that a good quality tile saw was going to be required for the extensive tile work that my wife and I are doing in our home remodeling projects, I did extensive research. After about two weeks of reading reviews and spec sheets, I finally settled on this saw. While I believe the professionals would consider this strictly an entry level saw, for the home owner or remodeler planning complex or extensive tile work I doubt you can do any better.Set up was very quick out of the carton with only the occasional interesting language "glitches" in the technical manual. All the parts aligned well and fit together easily. The pump system gives you the option of drawing fresh water from a bucket or recycling water in the catch tray. Save yourself a lot of grief and use a bucket. The catch tray is large enough to allow lots of cuts before it has to be emptied and recycling the catch water through the pump will wear out your pump much quicker.I used a much lower quality tile saw several years ago and was surprised at how much faster this machine goes through a 12" tile. Repeat cuts are quick to set up and accurate. I am a custom furniture maker by trade so I have designed jigs for the various "trick" cuts we are making. If you are not proficient at designing and making specialized jigs or don't plan a lot of of angle cuts I would strongly suggest buying the accessory cutting kit along with this saw.I buy a lot of tools over the course of a year. It is always gratifying to find one that does exactly what it is intended to do easily and consistently. I have been very pleased with the performance of this saw and would not hesitate to recommend it to any home owner, handyman, or remodeler who does not do tile work full-time but needs a strong, versitile, reliable saw.

MK-100 TILE SAW (MK DIAMOND PRODUCTS)
The saw itself gets five stars. The only problem is hangup of the slider which can be relieved with a shot of lubricant from time to time. However, the base is CHEAP and wobbles during operation. I intend to reinforce the base with plywood or metal braces, but of course this should not be my job.W. Andrew Baldwin MD Farmerville Louisiana
