Excellent product, good communication with seller
I can't comment on the "auto focus" category, since I use this adapter with manual lenses only. It gets the job done. Easy to attach to and unattached from lens. Holds the lens steadily in place, without any play. I'm very happy with the images that have resulted.

Suprisingly well made - nice price
The machining and build quality on this adapter are excellent. Feels very solid (all metal) and fits very nicely on both the F-mount side and the MFT side. Easily mounts & dismounts on both sides (I just have to remember that the F-mount lens is attached by turning it in the opposite direction than the MFT mount.)I have non-G style F-Mount Nikkors, so I don't need to use the adapter's aperture control ring other than to lock it Open in order to control aperture with my len's control ring. However, because the adapter's ring turns so smoothly, if I don't need to use a specific aperture for some reason, sometimes I find it easier to lock my len's ring at it's highest aperture (smallest opening) and control the exposure using the adapter's ring instead. You'll be guessing somewhat as to the specific aperture when using the adapter's ring, so that is something to consider when using G style lenses, although general exposure shouldn't be an issue, as noted below.Because there is no electronic communication between the lens & camera, the camera will show aperture on screen as unknown, and you have to manually focus (my micro four thirds camera Olympus E-PL2's "Focus Zoom" feature works very well for this.) Despite this, the E-PL2 can control the exposure in either Aperture control mode (you adjust the aperture, camera adjusts the shutter speed to expose properly) or Manual control mode (you set both A & S and the camera indicates the current exposure level.)Because of the 2x crop factor, your lens focal length will be functionally double for 35mm equivalent on the MFT camera, great for telephoto images. Matched with the E-PL2 camera's in-body image stabilization, your old F-mount lenses can benefit from IS as well!I have the full range of focus while using this adapter.(This review is for the RainbowImaging adapter, not the Kiwi\Cowboy Studio adapter for which others had issues.)

Tight but works.
Bayonet mount was tight and hard to put on at first. Instructions were limited so didn’t explain this. But it works as advertised and allowed older Nikor lenses to be mounted on my micro 4/3 camera.

Does Exactly What It Is Supposed To Do
This little mechanical ring, which has no glass in it, is very useful and well worth the money, if you own a mirrorless Micro 4/3rds camera but also own lenses for Nikon. I have a large number of older Nikon lenses left over from professional use years ago, and this little ring allows me to use almost all of them on my Olympus mirrorless camera. The IBIS (in-body image stabilization) of the Olympus actually makes these older lenses more functional on mirrorless than they are on the original Nikon cameras they were designed to work on.I love to use my older Nikon manual focus lenses on one of my Olympus cameras. My auto-exposure in Aperture Priority mode still works fine using the adapter,, and you get some interesting telephoto effects. For example, my old Nikon 200mm F/4 lens, which is quite small and cost me $35 used, becomes essentially a 400mm f/4 with image stabilization. This is a lot of fun for birds and other distant objects. Or you can take that 50mm f/1.8 lens that came as standard with your old film camera, and turn it into a very nice 100mm equivalent portrait lens.If you have newer Nikon G lenses that don't have aperture rings, this adapter won't work, because your lens will default to its smallest aperture and you won't be able to change it. There is another adapter that has an aperture ring built in for those lenses which only costs a few dollars more. I've been using the Nikon to Micro 4/3rds adapter as an example, but you can get these for virtually all brands of older lenses that will work with APS-c and Full Frame mirrorless cameras.

Crops and softens the image
This is my 1st (and last) experience with a low cost m42 to micro 4/3s adapter. As you may know micro 4/3s already has a cropped sensor meaning you get a small scope for photos to shoot as it is (as opposed to full frame) this adapter crops it even further to the point that it’s completely impractical to use a m42 50mm lens for anything besides certain macro shots of products and even then only a quarter of the image will be sharp and the rest outside that small zone will be blurred (softened) outwards. I am a beginner photographer so i didnt learn of this phenomenon until AFTER purchase. Part of the solution is getting a m42 to micro 4/3a “speed booster” adapter INSTEAD of this- at least this is what i read- as this will improve the image result due to lowering the focal length and decrease the amount of cropping compared to using this. A speed booster is more expensive though and I dont own a vintage lens worth the investment of that yet so personally im skipping these adapters altogether and getting a native prime lens

Falsch herum
