Great story!
I had read some other books by Karen Rose and really liked them so I thought I'd give this one a try. I was not disappointed! Ms. Rose weaves a very intricate story about lies, murder, and parents who will do anything to protect their children. The story revolves around Dr. Lucy Trask, ME for Baltimore and JD Fitzpatrick, homicide detective. JD has only been in the homicide division for a short time and ends up 'meeting' Lucy over an autopsy. Soon after, bodies start piling up. But they're all tied to Lucy in some way. All are left for her to find either at her home, in a car, or at a park she frequents. She's briefly considered a suspect, but quickly eliminated. So who would hate the ME enough to kill people from her past? There's much more to Dr. Lucy Trask than meets the eye. Her family wants nothing to do with her, she has a alter-ego once the sun goes down, and her favorite past time is something she keeps secret.JD and his partner, Stevie are trying to figure out who is killing these people and why is Lucy being punished? JD is wildly attracted to Lucy but she keeps him at arm's reach for much of the book. She has many skeletons in her closet and doesn't trust herself enough to open up to him. What I liked: I found the book easy to read and the plot very interesting. I had no idea how the killer would be connected to Lucy until I read it. Lucy has many layers and it was nice to see her let go of some of her baggage along the way. What I didn't like: JD seemed to have to work extremely hard to get Lucy to notice him. I guess to me, it seemed forced. It seemed like Lucy didn't appreciate everything JD was trying to do for her. Also, JD seemed to have to do everything in the investigation. There were secondary characters, yes but they seemed like they took a back seat and never had much to contribute. After reading the other books in the Baltimore series, I liked this story the least but it still gets 5 stars from me simply because the plot was so good!

A fantastic start to the Baltimore series
I love Karen's Rose's books, and I've really enjoyed her Baltimore series. Unfortunately, I didn't read the books in the correct order. That didn't stop me from loving them all. I simply would have enjoyed them even more if I'd read the series in chronological order. The author has fleshed out all of her characters, making each one unique and the main characters very likeable. The plots definitely held my interest. They were fast-paced and suspenseful. The romance in them was excellent. So if you're going to read the Baltimore series, start with this one. Once you do, you'll want to read all the others.

MURDER MYSTERIES WITH A SCORPIONS TAIL.
Karen Rose writes books that are very easy to read. I always like the protagonist who is always 6’6” tall, and built like a brick sh*thouse. The girl is pretty or gorgeous in many different ways. There is always a killer or killers after them, and the books always end the way you want them to. I’ve now read so many Karen Rose books, that I think I’m re-reading some, as I started reading them years ago, and my memory got up and left me years ago as well. I’ve started another Karen Rose book, and I can’t even recall the title. But it’s good. As are all her murder, mysteries. Try one, and you’ll read them all.

You belong to me by Karen Rose
Intense to the very end. I consider it a thriller with a heart. A reader needs to stay focused so you’ll never lose track of all the characters and how they are interwoven. Ms. Rose is a master story teller. I stayed spellbound to the end.Reviewed by Heide Katros, Winter Haven News, Florida

Fantastic story
I love Karen Rose’s writing. I have read he Cincinnati Series (twice) and I am currently on the last book in her Baltimore series. This is the second book in the Baltimore series starring Agent Joseph Carter and Daphne Montgomery. Mainly takes place in and near Wheeling and Morgantown WV (where I live). The story had me on pins and needles for most of it but dang was it good! Could not stop turning pages.

A favourite
This is one of my favourites of the series. It is a good story, right from the start. It doesn't lag anywhere. There are two investigations that merge into the one. A solid romance.

Great thriller!
One of those great unputdownable thrillers! Once you start it, you won't be able to stop reading it! I have also bought "Watch your back" from the same author where we have the pleasure to see the same characters again. Loved these two books!

Wonderful story-telling!
I am not going to give a summary of the content - other reviewers have done that to a sufficient degree and very well. What we have here is a prime example of excellent story-telling. Karen Rose is one of my favourite authors and has, again, delivered the goods. This book marks the beginning of a new series of books connected by re-appearing characters. Karen Rose's writing style is fluid, exciting and her stories are fast-paced. I enjoyed the interaction between hero and heroine, but I what I liked best is the fact that Rose does not only write from the hero/heroine's point of view Rather, we actually get an insight into the killer's motivation and background. That fact brings the book to life even more and it creates a wonderfully multi-faceted story.
