ILYAS & DUCK Search for Allah: Pillar 1 Review: A Gem - It's so rare to find a book for Muslim kids that isn't preachy or poorly illustrated. This book is everything I've wanted packed into one book. Both of my boys (ages 3 & 6) love it and ask me to read it to them regularly. It definitely helps to explain a complex question to a young mind, while honoring the curiosity of children as well. I know there were some concerns about how the book actually deals with the location of Allah. I was actually concerned about this too, and wished the book's description would tell us, so we wouldn't have to figure it out after the purchase. The answer from the book is that we believe in Allah's existence because of all the beauties of creation that we see all around us. That's how we know Allah is there. However, the refrain "Allah is all around us. He created . . . . (the mountains, birds, fish, etc.)" is repeated throughout the book. Anyone having a problem with that explanation would be advised not to purchase the book. Review: Wonderfully told story with captivating illustrations - Wonderfully told story with cute illustrations that really capture my 5 yr. old child's attention. It peaks his interest in the topic without going into too much detail which is great because, it allows the parent to have a more open-ended discussion about the topic then they could have if everything was laid out. I also really enjoyed the size of the book....it isn't a small board book but an oversized picture book. This is great because, it really allows the illustrations to pop. Most importantly, my children really enjoy the book!

My favorite children's book
The first time I read this book, I cried at the end. It's that beautiful. I love sharing this with friends and their kids, reading it to a classroom of little ones, etc. Great quality, thoughtful, I buy it over and over and recommend you do too.

Wonderful book for kids!!
This is a great book for kids wanting to know the answer to one of life's greatest questions. The quality of the book and pages is very good as well as the illustrations. The use of exotic animals throughout the book is a nice way to educate children about animals not seen often. I highly recommend this book to anyone with children at their most influential periods of their lives.

Very good book to teach science and faith
My 32 months old son loves this book and reads it once at bedtime and even took it to his Montessori. The story is so well written that now he can say it all by himself after having heard it for about a week. This teaches a young child about so many scientific concepts and lays a very solid foundation in reasoning and faith. I just bought the other Ilyas book on Eid after having this for a week. Even though it is slightly high priced it is well worth it.

Zikr, taffakur
A moving tale (and a moving tail) of a boy and his duck trying to find God. Simple words yet not overly simplistic, unimaginative or patronising. The storyline is powerful enough to appeal to toddlers and adults alike. Reading this story is a form of zikr that's why when reading stories after stories after stories to my children, Ilyas and Duck is one story I don't mind reading and rereading and the children find it equally fascinating every time.

Great book
I love this book. Even though it says it's the search for Allah, it could work just as well as a spiritual book for any theistic or spiritual view. The book is about a boy and his duck who are looking for God. They encounter different animals who say that God can't just be seen literally the way you would see other physical objects. Eventually the boy realizes that the lesson is that God instead can be seen by the joy and wonder of the world around you. I like the spiritual nature of the book and the fact that while dealing with an inherently religious topic, it isn't overly preachy.

But overall I am very pleased to have bought this book and happy to have ...
Such a cute book mashaallah. My only complaint is the illustrations remind me of something quick and simple on a computer program... Way more effort could have been put into the illustrations to keep little ones interested. But overall I am very pleased to have bought this book and happy to have it in my children's bedtime readings 😊

This is by far my favourite Islamic book that I purchased for my 11 month old son. I have to say, it really gets the emotions going and makes me tearful every time I read it. It teaches the existence of Allah, the oneness of Allah and the nature of Allah in such a pure and innocent way. I am very grateful to the author for putting together such a lovely book.

This is an excellent book for young children aged 4+. The characters take the children through the journey of finding out Where Allah is. And Alhamdulillah it doesn't end with "Allah is everywhere" but rather it different concept that children can understand. I've read this to my reception class and they ABSOLOTLEY loved it. It is also enjoyable because it has repeated phrases which they can join in with. Brilliant book, would recommend to schools and also home read.
