As a military veteran I can recommend this book. The author paints a detauled picture with his words, of life in an elite unit. He also addresses problems encountered in other military units and why they don't exist in his unit, details selection, training and combat deployments. Worth a read if you're interested in Russian military history from recent times, a subject with scant cover at this time

this was a very, very 'not bad' book!the down side was the crappy translation.
