An essential component for every haiku lover's library, life-changing reading!!
Words fail to express, do not suffice to capture the great pleasure, joy, education, profound weight and experience exploring this extraordinary volume makes for. An invaluable tool for understanding nature and time's intersections with poetry, guaranteed to improve readers' technique and introduce them to countless invaluable tools and strategies for formulating potent pieces of their own. Among the all-time greatest, most accomplished and lauded practitioners of the short forms, as well as renowned critic, teacher, and translator of the classics from the Japanese to our English tongue, this is something every enjoyer of micropoems would benefit from introduction to and familiarity with. Could also make a treasured, meaningful gift for that haijin I'm your life they'd be deeply grateful to have. One of the best things I've ever had the privilege of reading. An epic magnum opus that will be remembered as a seminal text into the foreseeable future!

Awesome!!!
This is an amazing volume of haiku. Reichhold has organized her haiku along the lines of Japanese Saijiki. Saijiki are collections of Haiku that are arranged by Season, and then within each season by topics. Becoming acquainted with this way of organizing Haiku might seem a bit cumbersome by the description I have given; but it is really a treat because it allows the reader to focus on the haiku. I mean that the placement of the haiku within a seasonal and topical arrangement is itself a big assist to the reader in entering into these brief poems. And the haiku themselves are astonishingly well crafted. Reichhold's approach is capacious and she freely merges western poetic techniques with the haiku craft. The result works; it sparkles with life.I cannot recommend this book too highly. For those who are haiku poets themselves, or are aspiring haiku poets, or simply enjoy reading haiku, this book will open many doors.

LOVE this book!!!!!
I LOVE this book! I have a bookshelf full of haiku books, including several of Jane's. Always, I tell myself that if I find one or two haiku that I really love in each new book, the purchase was worth it. Jane's latest book is 300+ pages of haiku! And since I have so many favorites of hers, I thank her for this compilation of my favorites plus so many more that I've never read before! And, as I've just begun to think of the holidays, I now know what I'm going to buy for my closest friends! For anyone who loves haiku, they won't be sorry for adding this book to their collection or for giving it as a gift to someone special.

A great book. Love the beautiful haiku in it
A great book. Love the beautiful haiku in it. The haiku are arranged according to season. Within each season there are many subjects covered. The index makes it easy to find the haiku according to subject. Best book of haiku I have seen.

One of the best poetry books I've ever read
This is a book you can get lost in. Every haiku is AT LEAST good, and there are quite a few that have been stuck in my head, like a favorite song. The quality of work in this book is amazing, and I have found some haiku that I will never forget. And I'm sure I will find some more. Jane Reichhold is truly an amazing poet, and I promise this book will not disappoint. I've had the book for about four or five days now and I still cant put it down.Amazing collection!

Highly recommended!
One can’t possibly fail to be deeply impressed not only by the quality of Reichhold’s verses but also the sheer quantity. Personally speaking though, in a book of more than 300 pages, and with nearly 20 haiku to a page (whereas most haiku books have only around 1-5), I find so many on a page challenges both my eyes and my concentration. Although I must admit that if I were the editor I would be hard pressed to choose the ‘best’ ones to thin them out, since most of them are so very good. This is only a trivial comment of course, and not meant to deter anyone from buying this wonderful collection. Very inspiring and highly recommended!
