never have a car without one
purchased little more than a year ago. installation was easy enough except for old wiring that kept breaking trying to strip the wires to tie into the backup lights. has worked flawlessly since. just put the car into reverse and the screen lights up with a bright, clear picture. backing into parking spaces is a breeze when you can see where you are going.every car I buy into the future will have a backup camera built in or I will buy one of these to install myself.

3 years later and still a great backup camera
I was skeptical about an aftermarket backup camera but this camera was easy to install and is still working perfectly 3 years later. Highly recommended!

Nice camera at great price point
Bought this unit to give me some back-up camera capability on my recently acquired 2013 Audi TT RS. I liked the wireless operation part and figured to give it a try. After receiving the unit, I was pleased with the design and features and it was obvious that it would work as I had intended. However, I decided in the interest of quality to get the installation done by a pro and found a good shop to do that. They did a super job, getting everything mounted up just as I was planning. All the cables and transceiver components were hidden behind the rear cargo panel. The monitor was mounted low on the left side of the dash using the windshield vacuum mount with the wiring dropped down into a small fuse panel right underneath. In all a super clean install! The unit works great, with the picture coming up in maybe 2 seconds after shifting into reverse (love that feature using the back-up lights to turn the entire system on). Picture quality is OK and a little jumpy, given the wireless operation, but entirely acceptable for what I wanted, just a simple back-up view. I highly recommend this product for anyone wanting similar performance and features.

Easy install
Easy to install, hard to see during the daytime in a convertible. Otherwise a great value.

Great camera, Impressive customer service
I got this a little over a year ago now. I have a cargo box that mounts to a receiver hitch and it blocks the factory backup camera on my Grand Cherokee. So I got this to install on the cargo box and I can see behind me again. Due to the slightly different location of the cameras it takes a moment to get used to the scale of one vs the other, but it's quite functional. My only complaint is the mount. It's adjustable, and mostly stays, but occasionally I'll need to point it back up a bit and it's easily bumped down. I'm thinking of adding a dab of silicone behind it to help hold it in place but it's not be a real problem. Now, customer service: they surprised me. This company is in China. Everything is nowadays. A couple of months ago I was getting ready for a road trip so I tested my camera to make sure it still works. Again, it's mounted to the box so it only gets used when we use the box. At that time, it worked fine so I moved on with other prep. Come time for the actual trip and no camera. The screen would come on, it had power, but no image on the screen. Tried to re-pair the camera to no avail. This is the weekend before our trip, and literally a few DAYS before the end of the warranty. Now, FINDING the customer service email was interesting, but searching Google for AutoVox I found the company website and a Customer Support form on that website. I knew that I would be away from internet until after the warranty period expired but I tried anyway. They emailed me back, asking about symptoms. They mailed me parts to fix it after I got home, and when that didn't fix it they mailed me a whole new kit. That did fix it. They were friendly, courteous, and there was no communication barrier.Overall, this has been a really good little camera. Any product can have a malfunction. There are so many possible things to go wrong. But the way that they handled the problem, I will not hesitate to buy AutoVox products in the future.

Works OK on back of truck, poor on back of trailer.
Installed on 2003 Tacoma placing sending unit inside tail light cavity (see photo). Used double sided mounting tape for sending unit and power box. Worked fine for a couple days and then the receiver/screen failed. Seller was very quick to respond when I sent photo proof of the failure. They sent a new package, I received it 7-10 days later. Has been working for 5-6 weeks now, with one issue (see below). Truck was on many miles of very rough 4x4 trails. The way the camera attaches to the mounting bracket is a little questionable, it hinges on just one small screw and nut. I added some zip ties to help keep it in place. This camera really makes hooking up trailers much easier, almost always first try with no helper. That was the reason for purchase and it works good enough. The image is normally good enough but if there is bright sun anywhere in the image, the darker areas are near impossible to see.I purchased a "VANMASS Universal Car Phone Mount" to replace the provided suction cup mount for the screen so that I can place the screen lower, not blocking road vision. Removed the cell phone mount and used the ball to mount the camera's screen, fits good. This works fine when using the camera mounted on back of my truck.I first attached sending unit to the Tacoma's backup light and ground wire. My 2003 Tacoma has one ground wire for backup, stop, turn, and running light. About three weeks later while on a road trip my stop light started blowing fuses every time I stepped on the brake. Removed both tail lights and it still happened. Gave up and took it to a dealership to repair. They told me the camera was shorted out (it was not when I inspected a week later) and removed the camera wires from tail light system, I really doubt that was really the issue but I am no longer blowing fuses. Anyway, camera is now on a seperate power wire that switches from cab of truck, grounded to frame of truck, working as it should.Since the seller sent me a full package for the screen replacement I put the second camera on back of our 8 foot pop up camper to help see directly behind. Sending unit is in a plastic box attached to the back. I think this adds about 12 feet to the distance between camera and screen, about 25-27 feet total. It works some of the time but only if screen is up high in the cab of truck, not when screen is sitting on or below dash level. When it does work there is lots of lag. This is odd as when I first received the package I was able to receive the camera image from about 200 feet away with screen on dash and no obstacles. I am sure it would work if I could mount sending unit on the side of the camper but don't want something sticking out on the side. It does help a bit for rear view but one can not see very far behind as that is not what these cameras are made for, camera angle is too wide for that even though this camera is narrower than most back up cameras. I plan to purchase an extender cable for the trailer camera.
