D'Addario Helicore Violin Set 1/4 Med (H3101/4M)

Started using these strings at the recommendation of my sons' teacher several years ago. We have been through many sets so far.Pros:Sound great right away, don't need breaking in and keep tune fairly wellCons:Lifespan. They just don't last very long. Within weeks to a month my older son already comments on how they are starting the unraveling process. Increasingly out of tune as time goes on, and start buzzing slightly. This continues until they finally unravel and are unplayable. Then it is time to replace again.We keep using them because for the price, they play well, sound well, and are easy for beginners to high intermediates to use. At some point I am sure we will have to graduate to other strings, but for now, they are good for our family.

These are our go to strings now, they are great! As a violin teacher I recommend these. The sound is lovely. Once strings are replaced and properly set in the violin, they adjust in no time. Ready to play right away instead of waiting a week or so for the strings to stretch and keep its tuning. It sounds bright and keeps its tuning rather quickly. It may not last as long as other lower brands but the sound quality is worth it.

These turned out to be very good strings! They sound a bit bouncy and resonant, so not for you if you like a more mellow and subdued tone. My daughter's tone completely changed for the better after we replaced the stock strings her rental came with for these.The strings stretched in a couple of days whereas the strings on my own violin (Chromcors) took about a week to fully stretch.

My daughter's violin has this set for a few weeks. And the G string is already broken for no reason. I've learned my lesson and will always go to a store for strings in the future.

Thin, metallic sound. Some strings false and wolfy. Young players have enough to worry about without having to deal with crummy equipment.

Very nice sound for my kids violins - deep and resonating. My kids like the feel of the strings too.Ability level - they are 10 and 12 years and are intermediate level, both having learned vibrato within the past 6 months. Liebestraum, Infant Paganini, Seitz Concerto.Enjoy!

Decent strings for small violins. Using these on my daughter’s 1/10 size.

I am a luthier and this has been my go-to string for new set-ups. Very lively and balanced tone. Has enough grit to the tone to satisfy folk styles, and very capable of nuanced or light playing. Seems to hold character over extended periods- up to a year. These are excellent for the price.
