Tea Rex (A Rex Book)

The illustrations are great and the story is fun. My 2.5 year old niece loves dinosaurs and definitely got a kick out of this one.

My 2.5 year old is obsessed with dinosaurs and I'm surprised at how many things are really not made for girls. It doesn't necessarily bother me to have to buy "boys" stuff but a book like this is so so perfect for her!!! We look all the Rex books and they are always in rotation for bedtime. It's a fairly quick read with tons of detail. It's sparks critical thinking and you can learn a lot about emotions or actions. If that makes sense. I always ask my daughter to describe the photo to me and truly the book could be pictures only and you'd know the entire storyline. I really love that it has words as well though.

I had heard good things about this book, so I bought it without reading it myself, which was a mistake. The pictures are great, but the actual story was not what I expected. If you're good at getting creative and talking off the page with your child, it would be fine but if you want to read the lines, it doesn't tell much of a story. For instance, there is no actual description in the story of the fact that there is a T Rex at tea with you and all the trouble he causes. It reads more of an Emily Post - the proper way to have a tea party, but then has the crazy pictures in the background that clearly show the T Rex not following the rules. But again, no mention in any of the words of what the T Rex does. Again, you can obviously talk this up with your kids, so just better for those with imaginations and creative storytelling skills, and not for those of us who are looking for a simple, easy to read bedtime story ;)

We recently threw my daughter a Tea-Rex themed 3rd birthday party so when I saw this book I immediately ordered it. It's incredibly sweet and she loves it! The illustrations are colorful and fun and the story is simple and easily followed by toddlers and preschoolers alike.

I bought my daughter her first tea set and having no experience with tea parties myself, nor even a tea pot at the house, I decided maybe she needed a book to know what to do with it. This was adorable! The T-rex is a bumbling clumsy guest and his little hostess accommodates his every faux pas with grace. Very fun to read together. I am considering getting her a T-rex to serve tea to!

My two year old daughter loves this book. The illustrations are colorful, detailed and creative. The text isn't too lengthy (good for younger audiences) but is still fun and clever. If your child likes this book there are also other books to buy by the same author that continues Rex's adventures.

My daughter loves this book from the brightly illustrated pictures, to the silly plot. It is also the perfect mix of tea party and dinosaurs that make it a great read for both boys and girls and for parents that are looking for books that strike a balance between the normal books marketed to each gender. It is definitely one that is in our regular rotation during story time.

Gorgeous illustrations which are quite funny alongside the text. It was perfect for our afternoon tea topic and allowed me to tie dinosaurs into our topic. I think I might have enjoyed this one more than my reception class as the humour is quite subtle. I loved it!
