Saulo Ribeiro has constructed this book to deal with the most important aspect of defending oneself and escaping from disadvantageous positions(which is an aspect of the game that most books either ignore or explore very little). From there on he goes forward to discussing various guards,posture control and submissions etc... The progression of the book feels very natural and the pictures are properly detailed. While I have gone through Eddie Bravo's books before and I do acknowledge that they are very innovative; but I think this book deals more with basic nuances of jiu jitsu rather than flashy moves, which will always result in a practitioner's development in the game. So, I highly recommend going through this book and then add techniques from Eddie Bravo's books just to keep it more fun and unorthodox; while understanding the risks involved and having a basic game to fall back into, in case you run into any trouble while rolling.
