The Evil Dead never looked better! So happy it got a release in 4K!
The media could not be loaded. The Evil Dead looks fantastic in 4K. One will have to temper their expectations a bit going into this movie if they’ve never seen it before or do not know its history. I say that because the creators of this movie had an extremely tight budget, and the fact we even got this on 4K is unbelievable. I have to say, it exceeded my expectations with the HD audio and Dolby Vision. I will note that it is in fullscreen, so you’ll most likely have black bars on each side of your tv, but to me, it is not an issue. I’m a lifelong Evil Dead fan, so this was a must-have purchase. Overall, The Evil Dead never looked better, as the picture quality was excellent, and the audio was pretty great. So, now I’ll sum this purchase up with one word, something almost obligatory, and that is that this purchase was "groovy".

The Evil Dead - Old School FX Masterpiece
If you're a horror fan and haven't seen The Evil Dead, just stop reading now and buy the movie. It looks great in its new 4K format and despite being full-screen like other reviewers have mentioned, it doesn't take away from the presentation of this horror classic. I actually kind of thought seeing it in this ratio again was neat, because this is likely due to the source format of the film. Sam Raimi and a bunch of folks happened to create an FX nightmare with these kids turning into crazy witches and zombies, while taking the time to do some creepy stop-mo stuff at the end. It's one of those genre films that speaks volumes to the usage of practical FX and making the most out of what you have.Of course, the legend of Bruce Campbell was born on this movie and thus it spawned a whole new series of movies, shows, and comics that still to this day really have no competitors. The character of Ash is like no other, and it's best you start your wild adventure here. This release does include a Blu-ray copy, which did appear to be different than the one I originally had so I'm not sure if it's also full-screen. The digital copy is included as well, mine came in great condition and is a great addition to my growing 4K library.

WHAT HAPPENED TO HER EYES?
The film itself is a classic. If you haven't seen it and you love 80's horror, you need to check it out. One of the first horror movies I ever saw and it certainly paved the way for future horror exploration. The 4k UHD is really clean for the most part. I was hoping it would look perfect but there's an issue with anything that's brightly colored having a grainy, almost rainbow effect. Linda's sweater/robe and the white paint in the house really show the effect. It barely detracts from the experience though and the practical effects that looked good back then, look even better in 4k. Can't watch this movie without wincing in pain a few times... All in all I'm happy I bought this movie yet again (VHS, DVD, Collector DVD, etc...) it deserves the 4K upgrade.

Great movie, but no slipcover.
Inventive and bolstering with style. Movie is great, but packaging was not what I expected. From peoples reviews and the picture used for the item, I was expecting the very slick looking slipcover for both Evil Dead 1 & 2, but received both without their covers. Might be a minor detail to hone on in, but when you buy with a certain expectation and you get less than 100% of what the pictures show, there’s room for minor complaint.

A Classic fantastic movie !!!
If you love Bruce Campbell then you should watch these movies and the Evil Dead series. I can't get enough of it. This is where Sam Raimi and Campbell get their start. The 4K quality is very good and the sound as well. Definitely the best version I have seen yet.

It's like you own a 35mm print...
Full aperture, original adpect ratio. Beautiful silver grain. Bruce is younger than me. Killer trees and evil books too. Great purchase. This UHD is my third and best version of the film. I feel like I own a print. Not since my anchor bay vhs have I been this excited. Would love part 2 and also Intruder on UHD.

Really great restoration
Like most people, I'd only ever seen this movie as a VHS tape that had been rented a hundred times before it got to me, and had probably been dropped on the ground a lot too. So, watching it like this ruled.

All time horror classic with a personal transfer-caveat.
All time horror classic that needs no introduction. As far as the transfer goes, this looks so good that for a dirty film it could be argued it is too good. This is truly the “best” it has ever looked with no excessive DNR and care clearly taken, HOWEVER, I probably prefer the BD because it keeps a bit of its nasty edge and doesn’t show the limitations of the effects as much. Make of that what you will..
