Outdoor Kit Covers 2 - 3' x 5' Windows

Good quality plastic film and the best two sided tape. The number of wrinkles in the plastic film is a pain but the film looks good looking from inside to outside. Adhesion is good but but I always apply clear sealing tape over the edges. Value for the money is O.K but seems pricey for a piece of plastic film and some two sided tape.

Worked great! Easy to put up. It's been up a short while and it has not shrunk at all.

Our problem area was a cluster of three single pane windows in one very large wall frame. The composite frame was too large for one plastic sheet to cover and the indoor window frame faces were on two planes. Fortunately the outdoor frames of the separate windows were all on one plane so two exterior kits were workable. Outdoor temperatures were problematic due to the time of year so, even though I waited until the thermometer said 51 degrees outside to do the installation, I used a double line of tape around the windows to increase the chances of getting good adherence to the wood frame. Plenty of tape is provided in the kit. Installation on the smaller window was a piece of cake. However, the only reason I don't award 5 stars to the product is because the plastic on the very large window has fairly permanent, angled creases (from being folded in the box) which are visible in the right light and inhibit the plastic from unfolding evenly. These creases make it necessary to do lots of repositioning trying to reduce puckering on the uncreased side as one side is effectively gathered up in the creases while the other side is not. Using a hairdryer to shrink the plastic to solve this problem is not recommended as there is a concern that the plastic may shrink too much and come loose, especially when sun can heat and shrink the plastic further. However, because no sun ever hits these windows I used the hairdryer sparingly but the puckers and creases remain. Ultimately, this is a very good product. It continues to hold a cushion of air between the glass and the outdoor temperatures. The puckers and creases are very minor annoyances (and only obvious in the right light) while the problem of cold and water condensation on the inside of the windows is hugely ameliorated. I highly recommend this product for the exterior when interior installation is not possible.

Oct 2019: Purchased this product to cover large screens for older, larger condo insulated windows (30" x 50"). Was a little surprised that these were not heat the shrink type that I've used before for interiors. But the product was easy to install (took me about 15 minutes per screen), was easily able to stretch out wrinkles, and no problems unfolding / peeling the plastic open. There was actually enough double sided tape for 3 of my windows, plastic covered two. I've got some larger windows still to do, had to buy one pack for each of those, using the plastic sideways. I did my best to secure the tape to window (pressed around the screen frame with my thumb several times) and similarly the plastic once it was affixed to the tape. If it holds up, should do a good job creating a second vapor barrier and cutting down on drafts. May 2020: Removed the plastic this afternoon. First, all six plastic sheets were intact after a New England winter. Second, plastic removal was beyond simple - the plastic peeled away from the tape easily. The tape needed a little encouragement but by and large came off the aluminum frame in one piece and with no sticky residue. I'm a little shocked at how much of a non-issue removal was. I'm a fan for life!

As stated in other reviews, the tape is crap. Up just one day and blown off... granted it was a mofo of a wind storm, but still 'specially formulated outdoor tape'. I'm going to try again with the 3M double sided mounting tape as I've had good success with that in the past for other applications. *Update... so the 3m Mounting tape sucks... it's not meant for this.. while I've had great experience with the 3m mounting tape in the past, it doesn't hold this in the least. I'm going to have to just double tape this with the intended tape and retry.

This product sucks. You are paying for the 3M logo, NOT quality. The material is too thin, it tears easily and the double sided tape doesn't adhere well to vinyl. In short, try duct tape, a Hefty garbage bag and the results should be just fine for a temporary barrier. 🙏

I installed this window insulation kit in just a short time, and the instructions were easy to follow. The film went on smoothly and became nearly invisible after shrinking it with a hair dryer. It gave the windows a clean appearance and was a practical addition for improving insulation during colder weather.

Good but I’ve found cheaper prices shoppin around Good as any other brand. Best thing is the convinence of Amazon when you want it now!

I applied it indoors, although it states "Outdoor use only". Fitting was easier than expected. The double sided tape worked perfectly. I was worried about the initial wrinkly look but when I applied the heater it looked clear like glass. I first tried a hair drier but found that a fan heater on 1 kw worked perfectly and easily. You cannot tell the window is insulated. The cold downdraught from the window has stopped. Fantastic value. Highly recommended.

Managed to fit the 3m to my exterior windows (as supposed to be for) ok, however after a few cold nights it is starting to mis shape & now looks awful. Worked well at the beginning. I would try the d-c-fix window film as that make is great. Made in Europe too.

L’articolo è di buona qualità. Si tratta di un rotolo di nastro biadesivo e un telo trasparente (tipo pellicola trasparente da cucina ma molto più resistente). L’ho installato su una vecchia finestra con vetro singolo e infissi di legno, sia all’esterno che all’interno, creando due camere di isolamento extra (per il lato interno ho dovuto comprare un nuovo rotolino di biadesivo, di un’altra marca ma sostanzialmente identico). Considerando la semplicità e economicità dell’intervento, la differenza è incredibile. La temperatura dell’aria vicinino alla finestra é aumentata di 2-3 gradi, e gli spifferi di aria gelida sono meno percettibili. Ovviamente l’aspetto estetico ne risente. Per noi non è un problema perché si tratta di una finestra che comunque non apriamo mai e ha sempre le tendine chiuse. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo!

Worked as instructed as best I was able to get it straight. Mine came as expected, I wasn't always neat but when I was it worked as intended. No complaints. Prevents drafts and heat loss. Didn't think it could, but it did.
