Making tasty virtues of necessity...
Here's an investment that will pay off: These will very likely be twice the price by the time you finish off a box.I like Mex-ish food, which helps, but good beans cheap are hard to find. Here's a way to make a week's dinners in half-an-hour:Two cups of beans into two cups of boiling water, just that easy, just that quick. I add 2 tablespoons (half-a-packet) of taco seasoning for taste.Simmer that while you fry and simmer a pound of taco beef. I add a teaspoon of my pappy's ground Connecticut Cayenne pepper for authority. Then: Stir the beans into the beef and let them simmer together. That much I call Beef Bernardo – a pound of hamburger turned into four pounds of savory drool-bait.I use it to make nachos or overstuffed quesadillas, or just as bean dip with a little taco sauce mixed in.Beans are a beef-stretcher, but so is cheese: Your brain is fooled by the chewing. It's good food, lots of protein, complex carbs, blah, blah, blah. What's important for now, alas, is that beans are savory and cheap. And whatever trouble you might have holding them in, they seem sure to hold their value...

Excellent bulk dry refried beans.
I know they look a little weird in the photo but trust me. For years I used dried, instant refried beans in a gold bag, but after Covid they weren’t available at my local grocery store. They are on Amazon but very expensive. I sought after a suitable replacement and found Santiago smooth refried instant beans, they are even better than the gold bag in my opinion and much cheaper! These beans are about .30 cents per oz and the others are about .90 cents per oz. I prefer to buy them by the case because you get them for about $10 per bag instead of $16-$18 for an individual bag. These are the ones they use in Mexican restaurants. They are so easy to make and you can make as many or as little as you like. They would probably be great for camping, hiking, or even preppers because they are dried and all you need is boiling water to make them. I usually add seasonings and salt and pepper to the boiling water. After you add the beans, cover and wait 5 minutes, stir well. I add a little butter and a splash of milk to make them creamier. Delicious, affordable and available in bulk! Can’t go wrong with that.

Awesome product
I’m full Mexican and my son reminds me that my mother rolls over in her grave every time I use instant beans, lol. BUT, sometimes you just need the shortcut. I would never use canned. I usually use a different brand of instant, the bright gold bag, but haven’t been able to find that in stock. Came across this brand and it is even more affordable and very similar in taste/texture. It’s a basic refried bean, up to you to add your favorite seasonings. I usually do cumin, onions, garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper and cilantro and they come pretty close to my made from scratch. Six very large bags so should last a long time.

Old beans, don't buy...
Just to let everyone know... Amazon keeps refusing to post any negative reviews that I post, unless I say something possitive. They taste decent. ... But,Arrived 4 days late. Only 4 months left till experation date! Seller is sending out old stock. This is a ripoff, I didn't purchase "old stock".

Tasty and Decent Value
We started out with one bag and was super happy. They don't have tons of salt, but I don't care. I'd rather have to had a little salt than wish it was less. Plus, depending on your recipe, it doesn't matter. I find the texture of the smooth to be great and with the lard, they taste better than other brands that use veggie oils. When you buy in bulk, they are pretty cheap and you have a little more food for an emergency. I use them mostly as refried beans, but they are handy to dump in soups for extra thickening. Great for camping and picnics.
