Maggie Smith: Quartet / Gosford Park / Ladies in Lavender (Triple Feature)

Great package of movies, all three with Maggie Smith accompanied by other great actors—the names speak for themselves. The movies don’t disappoint, all thoroughly enjoyable, funny, and moving: Gosford Park is a masterpiece of ensemble acting that bears repeated viewing (and thank goodness for the closed captioning that catches all the dialogue!), Ladies in Lavender excellent, and Quartet very fine (also with fine ensemble acting).

I had the privilege to watch this film with a friend and enjoyed it so much we had a party! Wonderful film and a must see if you haven't watched this film! Good ole days for us white hairs

I bought this DVD for “Gosford Park”. I’m a “Downton Abbey” fan and I wanted to see its precursor. Very enjoyable and entertaining movie.

Maggie Smith - Need I say more? O.K., add in Helen Mirren, Stephen Fry, Laurence Fox, Clive Owen and a bevy of great British actors/actresses all in a classic English mystery and you have fantastic entertainment. For crying out loud folks, get it!

I love this collection of movies. I bought this for Godsford Park, and out of the other two I had only seen Quartet, which I like. After receiving it, I watched Ladies in Lavender first. After viewing it I couldn’t understand why I had not seen it before, it is really good. No surprise with the cast.

One of my wife's favorite actresses so is a big hit at home.

I really liked Quartet and Ladies in Lavender, very good movies, but Gosford Park was one of the most boring movies I have seen in a long time. Too many characters to remember who was who and not enough excitement. Slow moving. I thought it would never end.

Three British older movies with international support, well worth watching. They are ideal for fans of British drama. Be sure and watch the accompanying interviews of the writers, actors and directors, especially of Gosford Park, and Ladies in Lavender, movie.

Great casts and stunning performances! Timeless classics that are ever relevant to our lives today and to the human condition. This trio of movies will do any decent film library proud. Great value, also. Get it without hesitation and enjoy the brilliant acting, storytelling, music, settings, cinematography and directing! If you are relatively new to this general genre and calibre of film and you find that you enjoy it, make sure to follow up on this great trio by looking up further films by the same actors and directors.

With Eileen Atkins, Charles Dance, Clive Owen, Helen Miren, Derek Jacobi and more.(2001).3- Ladies in Lavender: A charming drama/romance about two sisters who's lives change dramatically, when they discover, take in and care for Andrea, an injured foreigner that washes up on shore. With Judy Dench, Maggie Smith, Daniel Brühl and a few more known actors. (2010). I liked all three very good British style movies, too difficult to say which, but I can say I slightly preferred two of the three. It all depends on taste I guess, definitely worth it and a must-see for fans and collectors of this genre and some of these wonderful actors and actresses...

Given as gift to a close friend who loves Maggie Smith.Having the 3 movies on one disc just makes it easier to have a Maggie Smith marathon !This was a good price , good quality item.If you enjoy the 'old lady' night (as opposed to the girl's night) than this is a good choice .Being a Maggie Smith fan myself definitely makes me a little prejudice so it's a 'no-brainer' for me to recommend this dvd.

These discs arrived in excellent shape, and, all worked without any issues in our players.These are wonderful movies for those of us who enjoy an intelligent peek at our silly, dark human characteristics. Although very different movies, each offers great acting, wonderful dialogue and storyline. Great movies to watch alone, or as a couple. Not for children.
