Great dark sky light for my front yard
We have a model train display in our front yard and I wanted something that would aesthetically fit our yard. Also, I didn't want something to cookie cutter. This light is nice since it cast light mostly downward (dark sky friendly), can take a regular light bulb (you can choose a good LED bulb), and has a cool look (got compliments from the neighbor.). Also note, it looks fine (to me) to mount it on a black pole that you can grab from your favorite big box store if needed.

Excellent post light for those who want to protect the night sky
When the wife and I moved into the new-to-us home, we had a typical post lamp which lit up not only the ground, but most of the surrounding trees and sky. Since I am aware of light pollution issues, I decided to do my part in mitigating it and found this fixture. It was an easy swap with the old pole-top fixture, and is also very attractive as well. It lights up the surrounding area perfectly to a radius of around 30 feet at it's 6 foot height, but causes zero light spill up into the sky.Now if I could only get my neighbors to buy these....

Very nice light. A little too expensive
This was a very nice light. It installed easily on an existing 3" post. It has a very nice downward light spread that lights up a good part of my driveway and sidewalk. I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't 80+ dollars.Just a side note, the product pictured is a lot darker than what I got. What I ended up with was a very good match to my existing "bronze" post. I was worried it would be much darker because of the pictures in this listing.

Met our needs well
We wanted a light for our dock that would not glare and that would cast light downwards. This filled the bill well and seemed appropriate for this type of location. The proportions of the fixture look a bit small on a tallish post, but it provides ample lighting. I coated the fixture with Turtle Wax Ice paste wax to protect it. Most folks don't realize it is like your car finish, it needs protection every so often too. Don't expect it to last forever with no maintenance. We added a motion detector on the pole to make it only come on when needed.

Work great in 12 v system with 12 v bulbs, but has design flaws.
First off, I like minimal, dark sky fixtures. These were sized well for my application and I see them in my 12 v setup on my 4' landscape wall. I bought warm toned LEDs for 12 v systems and wired and installed everything myself. You need to find the right post mount for sure, I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038E5IPM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1And had to get the mausoleum oil rubbed bronze paint to match those to the fixtures. I ended up lightly painting the fixture too since the paint had a metallic flame in it.The lamp moves forward and back if you push it once mounted. I suppose the base could be mounted at an odd angle allowing the shade to be adjusted level if someone really wanted... but I have used this feature to enable drainage of the curled lip around the shade. I also noticed it holds water in the curled lip both of the shade and base so I took a small drill bit and made a hole in the lip about 1/8th inch in the lip, I painted the exposed surface of the metal and now with the shade tilted back, the hole drains the water which collects upon it very well. These curled lips likely are a design flaw which cause the rust other reviewers have mentioned. Before installing, make a hole or several in the lip, cover exposed metal with extra paint and check for drainage to make these last longer. Consider doing the same with the curl on the base. My shades drain specifically where I put the holes as the rain collects in that curled rim and the channel is dry within hours of the rain stopping, before I drilled those holes, the rain would sit until it evaporated.Other than that flaw, these work great and I love how the rain gathers in droplets around the rim of the shade which when the fixture is alight, look like the glowing version dingle ball sombrero fringe on Mexican hats. The company should fix that curled lip to make these last longer for clients who aren't handy or interested in customizing fixtures.

Nice looking with design flaw
Nice stylish lights that I’d buy again. Quality is decent and they are well packed for shipping. Underside is white to cast light well. As others have noticed (and offered solutions for) the lip that runs around the shade and the bottom of the mounting flange holds water which is a design flaw. Over time the paint will deteriorate and the mild steel will rust. The suggestion to drill drain holes and repaint is fair, but a well designed light fixture would not need such end user effort. Overall not bad.

This light hits the spot
Unlike my neighbors I did not want to project light all over the place. I wanted a low key, area light to keep the plow guy from hitting the big rock, keep me out of that flower bed and to provide a soft accent to the ell in the driveway without bothering others. This is the light I chose. I love it. So does my wife. The finish is low key, the shape pleasing and installation was a breeze.

They've grown on me
These just went up a few days ago, so I can't speak to fading, rusting, or general longevity.I wish they had a bigger size. My poles are wider than average, so the lamps are smaller than I wanted. It bothered me at first, but they've grown on me. My extra wide poles have a taper at the top, so the base diameter fit fine. The length of the taper was too long, however, so I used a bushing on each one to transition to the larger width of the pole. I like the effect.I was concerned they wouldn't make enough light since they are mounted 12ft up, but the light is perfect. The bulbs I used are LED 2700K soft white. Darkskies ordinance for my county lists the highest brightness at 3000K.I took another poster's advice and drilled weep holes around the rim. It hasn't rained yet, so I can't speak for how well those work. I can say, however, that the holes are not visible at the height I have them mounted.I first saw these at Lamps Plus. Amazon's price is cheaper.Overall, I like them a lot, but I do wish they offered larger sizes.

Protect Dark Sky Preserve
Great light, no glare when your out at a night. No wasted light, directed on the ground so no annoying light pollution. Doing my part to help protect our dark sky designation. Added feature in the rain.
