Pepper, art Living Legend Other Modern Jazz

Fantastic bargain in Art Pepper music. I previously owned one of the CD's and I can tell no difference in the quality of the music.

A great collection of some of his best albums i.e. Meets The Rhythm Section, Gettin' Together & + Eleven, at a great price.

This music was exciting and very well performed.

Now I can hear the music wrapped up in this super compilation. Easy clear jazz classics from a time that these musicians were sorting it out - how to work together and how to listen to each other. A delight - thank you Art and your team

All of the albums are highly worthy examples of not merely Art's playing but of the art of jazz--the rhythm sections include Miles Davis' best unit and the frontlines feature unsung heroes like Jack Sheldon. But Art's ouevre is at once so prolific and various that a collector will experience at best a "start" with these 7 albums. Look for his album on Laser Light entitled "Laurie's Choice" featuring arguably Art's most emotional solo (if not the most emotional instrumental solo) on record: "Patricia." And there's an indispensable posthumous date featuring Art playing a set at Chicago's Jazz Showcase in the mid-70s (including an interview with announcer Dick Buckley just prior to Pepper's publication of his autobiography: "Straight Life." Finally, there's the extraordinary sequence of recordings--"The Hollywood Sessions"--made by a Japanese engineer-fan, who was determined to record Art with virtually every major player he could pair up with Art (especially engaging are the sessions featuring Art with Konitz and Stitt).All in all, not bad for an emotive musician who did extensive time on two occasions (one at Alcatraz).

this was not at all what I expected and one of the discs does not play at all but the return policy only covers $4 which just covers shipping so this product is a disappointment.
