Soil / Climate: Prefers cool, moist climates Zones 2-7 When used in landscape planting, it should not be planted near Black Walnut as a chemical from the roots can be toxic to Birch. Notes: Shiny brown bark when young, turning bright white with age, separates from trunk in thin, papery strips. Wildlife: Seed is eaten by the wood duck, ruffed grouse, turkey, pheasant, blue heron, chickadee, and many others. Birch bark is a winter staple for moose and white tailed deer can be found browsing on Birch leaves in the fall. Snowshoe hares will browse on birch seedlings.

They have arrived in an excellent condition despite fairly late shipment (Jun 1 in NJ). All survived the transplant and grew from about 1 foot to 3 feet over the season.

Trees arrived in good condition, somewhat thin, but about what you'd expect for the price charged. I would recommend this seller.

These Birch’s were smaller than I expected and stayed in the mail for 10 days, however to my surprise their root ball was still very moist and no breakage on the trunks, packaged well!
