GownTown Women's 50's Cap Shoulder Knee-Length Vintage Church Dresses

I love the way this dress looks. It's very unusual and striking. I wear a lot of 50's styles dresses and this one just struck my eye and I had to have it. Like the other GownTown dresses I own, my only complaint is the material. It's a really odd material that feels almost like a soft vinyl or something. I almost expect it to be rainproof. Still, you're not going to find this style elsewhere and though I'd prefer another material, you do get used to it. Though it feels odd, it looks nice, hangs well and keeps its shape. I purchased a size medium. I'm 34C-29-34 and it fits perfectly. If your waist is any bigger than about a 30, you'll need to go up a size because the "belt" isn't removable and has absolutely no stretch at all. It has a zipper in the side which I prefer over the zippers in the back.

This is a very nice dress. Cute and unique. I ordered based on the size chart and it seems true to size. I will say that the waist sits a little higher than my true waistline. (And I have an average torsoe length) It feels slightly empire. Also for me, the buttons pull in the chest area ( I’m 5’7 and a 36 D cup size) I do like the dress though

Dress fell apart and stripes faded. Not worth the money

I thought I ordered a large, but a small came instead. I’m so glad, it fits perfect! The material is heavy so it’s very flattering, but has a bit of stretch so you could definitely size down. I also purchased a petty coat to give it extra bounce, and it’s perfect. It’s really long for me, I’m 5’3 and cut six inches off the bottom to hit my knee. Great purchase!

I am an 18 in almost everything and I wear a 44DDD. The chest buttons are functional, so it does open. The fabric pulls just slightly for me. Not enough for me to not wear it, and not enough to be overly noticeable. I mean, no one is going to say, "Oh wow, that's cute, does it come in your size?" Any bigger in the chest though, and I would have to put it away for post weight loss. It is a little wrinkled, but it's nothing a dryer won't fix. Dress comes packed very nicely in a zipped plastic bag. This is my second dress from this company.Update: I had put this dress away for an event and when I finally wanted to wear it out for the first time, it literary just popped open and I couldn’t fix it. I ended up tossing it out because I couldn’t repair it. I saw this on my list fo reviews and wanted to make sure I updated it. Sorry.

I purchased the Women’s 50’s Cap Shoulder Knee-Length Vintage Church Dress (White with black pin stripe) for my wife some time ago. She finally wore it for the first time and after washing it once, the black pin stripes have all faded to a light gray color. The dress’s collar and belt both remain a true black, like the pinstripes were when we received the dress. We machine washed the dress on delicate cool. This should not happen. I paid $50 for this dress and for this to happen after the first wash is not satisfactory. I purchased this back in June so I am outside the return window, but this is unacceptable. It’s a shame, because the cut of the dress is very cool and vintage looking and fit my wife perfectly.

Excellent "time-period"/event dress, sizing and overall fit were appropriate but if you happen to have a larger chest, I'm a DDD, the button holes stretch and it takes away from the clean lines of the dress....very unfortunate. The dress itself is made out of fabric with a nice firm stretch but It'd be nice if the fabric for the upper bodice was made with a fabric that has a little more give so the lines at the breast area wouldn't be skewed.

The dress had thicker material then expected for the price and I love the way it fits, very flattering. Cute for the office and I intend to wear this dress for my Beatlejuice inspired outfit around Halloween.I ordered a large and it fits as expected.
