1 X GE Smartwater Water Filter Adapter

Worked perfectly to install a new MWF filter in place of a (very) old MXRC filter in my older GE fridge with "Water by Culligan" signage.No tools required, did not need to turn off the water either. Just remove the old filter, attach the new filter to the adapter, and then attach the adapter to the fridge. I imagine you might need to remove both at the same time when replacing the filter, to prevent squirting water all over, but they assemble/disassemble with ease.I did not notice any drop in water pressure (as some reviewers reported), though, I did have to remove a bubble from the line by running the water dispenser for about a half gallon, just after installing the new filter. To prevent water hammer, I also filled the filter up with water before installing.

After not being able to find the original model filter for this old refrigerator, I tried the adapter with the Mwf filter. Fit and worked perfectly. The only minor issue was that the assembly is a little bit longer so I had to move the shelf below it down a notch. No big deal.

This adapter made it possible for me to install water filters again in my old refrigerator. The original type of filters are no longer available, so I have had the same one in place for years. It's nice to have an adapter that allows me to use filters again.

Just what it was supposed to do... we moved in and found a 16-year-old fridge with a Culligan water filter that had never been changed.Then we found out they don't make those filters anymore.This adapter, combined with an inexpensive filter, has it up and running perfectly. I was worried that the icemaker wouldn't fill all the way, because of water flow speed through the adapter - but it's perfect. No issues at all.

Some time ago I bought a house which had no fridge, and I couldn't afford new so wound up with a 12 year old GE Profile with ice maker/dispenser. The filter that was still in it was an old metal FXRC type, dated June 2000. (Yuck...) I just ran the water line, then found and ordered this adapter along with a new MWF cartridge and--voilà! Clean fresh water and ice, no leaks...perfect. It mounted above the upper shelf to the right and in the back. There was plenty of clearance for the filter/adapter combination.

My refrigator went out and had to get a replacment fast so got a used refrigator to hold us till we decided on which new one to purchase. well it didn't come with a water filter and we couldn't find one any where. Till I came across the Smartwater filter adapter and order it, when it arrived I put it on and it has worked out great. So now I can replace filter easly with filters sold at local hardware stores using this adapter.

Fitting this on the filter was difficult as it is a smooth circle around the circumference making it difficult to grip as you attach it to the filter. Literally it took 2 people. I would not install in the fridge first then put the filter on it as it may damage the fridge. this may simply be because it has new O-rings. Otherwise it works as advertised.

This adapter lets you use GE MWF or generic MWF filters instead of more expensive and less effective older filters, which are getting harder to find. Upgrades many older refrigerators from GE, Hotpoint, Kenmore, etc that used a filter made by Culligan. Verify your model number, usually found on a metal tag inside your refrigerator to make sure it fits your particular model. Once it is installed, it stays installed and remains when you change the filter.
