Why did you pick this product vs others?: This product worked flawlessly right from the beginning, resolving a battery drain problem we had been experiencing due to a faulty latch motor. Despite the old motor operating silently, it caused multiple instances of dead batteries until we identified the root cause. The installation process could be smoother if the cable release bar, riveted in place by Mercedes, could be easily removed. While the bar has some flexibility for inserting and removing the latch motor, its fixed position adds complexity. Ideally, drilling out and replacing the rivets would simplify the installation, but finding rivets with the same large heads as the originals posed a challenge. Highly recommend for its effectiveness in addressing battery drain issues.

Using this on a 2007 ML350 and the fitment is fine and the cable for the emergency release fits as well. The only thing that i encountered was one of the screw holes was damaged or not threaded correctly and the screw had a hard time going in by hand, eventually just used the ratchet and made it go in. Tailgate locks fine with no noises that would concern me. If this part lasts 2 years, then it will be worth it.

Had trouble with mine as one of the bolt holes was off a little. Almost sent it back but was able to finally get it to thread and seems to work ok. Noisier than the original but that's not a big deal. Hope it lasts for a while. Installation was actually easy once I got the trim & panels off. My original trouble was the lift gate wouldn't close all the way. This fixed it so I can't complain too much.

This tailgate lock latch + actuator assembly is an exact OEM replacement for Mercedes ML350/ML550/E350 (1647400635 / 1647400500). Installed in 20 minutes – plug-and-play wiring, all mounting holes aligned perfectly. The actuator motor is quiet and responsive, restoring my hatch’s one-touch open/close function.

It literally worked 3 times. Didn't even put the cover back on the gate. The locking pawl just became loose and failed. Hopefully just a bad one. I have ordered same from a different vendor, perhaps a different batch.

Fixes the issue with the trunk lock not unlocking electronically. The stock lock had a broken controller so the entire unit needed replacing. Drop in replacement, took a fair bit of wiggling to install and remove, as expected by Mercedes. As of writing this review the lock has been in service for 2 weeks so no comment on its durability.
