Convinced to try fat fasting, but not sure about what you'll be eating? Search no more!
Ketogenic diets have been shown to aid in several different scenarios since the early 20th century - and, after a scientific hiccup in the 70s/80s caused by selection bias (a scientist who chose a few countries to back his 'cause', latter called "the lipid hypothesis"), very-low carb diets are coming back stronger than ever. It's literally getting thinner and stronger while eating bacon, beef, cheese and the occasional fruit.A special form of the keto diet, used to kickstart it and regulate the body quickly, is the fat fasting - where you eat enough fat to quickly trigger the production of ketones in the body, that nourish our brain, heart, muscles and other organs better than glucose. Dammit, Alzheimer's have been called more than once "Type 3 Diabetes", due to the nefarious effects of glucose on the brain. That said, if fat fasting is so good an idea, with so many different good points, where's the gotcha? It's in the menu.Fat fasting sometimes forces people into being 'creative' in the kitchen - to say the very least. Bacon, beef, bacon explosion, eggs with bacon, beef and eggs, keto eggs benedict, eggs with a side of bacon... yes, one can have too much of a good thing. This repetition comes, mainly, from the fat fasting principal tenet - over 85% of fat in a given day's calories isn't that easy a goal to reach, if you're not prepared. Moreover, recent cookbooks have been relying heavily on the a new golden boy in the team - coconut oil. Our taste buds begin asking for some change and alas, said "change" sometimes come in the form of a carb extravaganza.Ms. Coleman's new book - Ella's new book - comes to fix that point. With such easy, fast and creative recipes like "Cucumber, Smoked Salmon and Avocado Rounds", "Cream of Cauliflower and Green Onion Soup" and "Chocolate Cream Mousse" (you read it right, K-E-T-O-C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E-M-O-U-S-S-E, that happens to not taste like coconut - fellow ketoers know exactly what I mean). Put some coconut cream mousse in the mix (for those who actually like coconut and won't mind tasting some more) and you can see it's a wonderful book to have. The recipes can be pretty easy to cook. It's amazing what one can make with heavy cream, creme fraiche, olive oil, some sweetener (or none) and a few berries (the author says blueberries; myself, I'll try it with blackberries). Many have published strengthened coffee recipes (i.e., fatty coffee) that taste astoundingly, except for the fact they need a blender. This book presents you the Mocha Cream Kickstarter, that... doesn't. And still tastes better.Make Dr. Volek's book (the Art and Science of Low Carb) your guide on "Why to go keto", and Ms. Coleman's books (this, and her others about keto diet cooking in general, non specifically fat-fasting) your guide as to "How to go keto". You won't look back. I promise.

Which isn't bad at all
I've been following a LCHF (low carb, high fat) diet for almost 2 years now, usually staying in ketosis, and have lost almost 140lbs at this point with a few stalls. What's always helped with the stalls is a fat fast, but my normal way of doing that is with coffee with butter and coconut oil blended in. Which isn't bad at all. But this book is full of great recipes that will make fat fasts a lot easier to palate! So I'll be able to do fat fasts more often and for the full 3-5 days now, since usually I can only stand to do it 1 day at a time. The recipes all look great, and there's quite a bit of explanation of the fat fast. Not just how to do it, but also why it works and tips of making it work better. This is my first book by this author but I have a feeling I'll be buying her first 3 books now as well. Well done.

This is a great resource for both keto and low carb recipes
This is a great resource for both keto and low carb recipes. I would have given it 5 stars but the recipes are a bit long, and I'm a simple girl, but they don't look hard to make overall. She explains everything very well, and it's helpful to have ideas to keep you going. No matter how you choose to eat, we all fall into a rut. Glad I bought this to kick start 2015.

Keto Living 101 - You'll Thank Us Later
Ella Coleman's Fat Fast Cookbook is a gem. The author notes that you should only consider going on a "Fat Fast" under specific conditions, and hopefully only a few times in your life. You will not even get to try all of these recipes while on your "Fat Fast," but they will still be available if you adopt the Keto lifestyle. If you are here because you have heard about this crazy No Carb, Keto, HFLC, Atkins diet "fad" but don't know anything about it, then this is the book for you. Ella boils down the extensive scientific research and adds in some good old fashioned common sense and delivers it in a highly enjoyable and understandable fashion.

The BestYet!
This has to be the best keto/fat fast book I have ever read! The attention to detail is fantastic and Ella's sense of humor is perfect. I love all the recipes with the detailed nutritional breakdowns. Definitely going to get her other books. Ella speaks highly of Craig Clarke also which I completely agree with. I go to his site at ruled.me.com all the time. And no, I do not know either Craig or Ella personally, just love this WOE and always looking for more great recipes.

There are some good recipes inside.
I enjoyed the dessert section the most. If you are able to follow the Keto diet you might want to browse through this book.
