Transmitter Hunting: Radio Direction Finding Simplified

This is a great book on radio direction finding
This is a great book on radio direction finding. It is a bit outdated as I first read it back in 1992, and it was a little outdated then, but still full of great information on RDF techniques and technologies.

RDF for Life
A must have in the library for anyone interested in radio science, radio tech and navigation. For those doing transmitter hunting, or radio navigation or ARDF radiosport challenges, you'll love this book.

Super disappointed in the age of the content; surfing the internet has been more informative.
In the days of Arduinos, Raspberry Pi's and DSP platforms - this book is extremely outdated. Antenna ideas and some of the history of gamesmanship are a little useful. The experiments described in the book are all hardware TTL or CMOS based and could likely be replaced by any atmel or microchip platform today. Heck, I'm reading online of RTL-SDR systems that are starting to deliver abilities beyond the description in this book. The commercial systems presented in the book have long been obsoleted and discontinued. The closest relevant included topic on computer assisted triangulation utilizes basic code.Unless you're a die-hard and want to know about the historical platforms/concepts, save your money and snoop the internet.

Information is outdated, but still good reference.
It would be great to see this book updated as the information in it is quite outdated. Otherwise still good reference material.

Transmitter Huntung
T he book is a valuable cornucopia of information on the subject, it does need updating as to the latest advances in the field. It still provides a solid understanding of the subject. A must for anyone interested in this application.

Very comprehensive, includes a lot of practical circuits.
Includes a lot of good information. The circuit diagrams and descriptions for various gadgets are very easy to understand. Well worth the price as a reference for anyone interested in RDF.

A good read
Great content, but the photos are a little dated and poorly reproduced. Even with that, it is a great repository of information.

Dated but useful
The book is dated 1987, and obviously a lot has happened in the electronics world in 24 years, but it still has some good info on hunting techniques. As far as I know, it's the only published book on amateur rdf.
