Use as intended only-- good replacement rocks
Works fine in the fireplace. Don't put too much in a gas fireplace as my husband did, as unbeknownst to us, it caused a horrible soot to be released into the air all through the house because he had too much of this rock in the fireplace!!

very life like rock looks like burnt embers i got it for use with the gel fire log set as the set didnt come with enough
