Motorcraft Engine Oil Filter - FL-400-S (OE Replacement for Select Models and Years of Ford, Lincoln, & Mercury Vehicles)

So, if like me you own a Zetec 2.0 DOHC VCT engine you're gonna want to read this. This is NOT the filter for that engine. It works, but it does not have the "needed" extra anti drain back required to keep oil on the camshafts while off. Don't listen to these geniuses that think it's there to keep oil from spilling on you, they don't care if you spill oil on you. It's there to keep oil on those dual cams and in the VCT gear and solenoid so your car doesn't do the cold start clacking dance. I will say I'm impressed at how durable these cams are since most people are forced to use the wrong filter, most unknowingly. And to be honest I think the cams are likely to outlast the cars anyway, I've owned zetec engines with 210k+ and unknowingly used the wrong filters, and figured that's how they sound, after 10 mins the noise goes away and doesn't return until after a 10+ hr layover. This is a quality filter and I use them on my Chrysler 3.8 T&C van. However, if you own a Zetec 2.0 DOHC VCT engine look for the right filter FL2005. This is the hard part, because apparently they were discontinued around 2008? And if you look hard enough you can find them, when you do, buy as many as you can afford based on what you think your needs will be. I've also heard there is a Purolator filter out there that was identical to the FL2005, and that Purolator was actually the manufacturer of the original. But it was also discontinued. Anyway I hope this helps someone. It was a very confusing research project for me. BUT, it solved that annoying, if not damaging cold start clack/tick/knock issues. Also paired with a nice Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-20 synthetic.

Motorcraft fillters are rated as one of the best (look it up). I only hope they don't end up like Fram and cut corners on the quality of the product. I would recommend using this filer over other filters, includine K&M, WIX, Purolator and others.

This oil filter is perfect.It does what it's intended. It's easy to install and it does not cost a lot. The little grips on the side make it easy to put on. I have never.I have never experienced any leaks with this brand. Thanks for making a great product that I don't have to worry about!

I see a lot of people talk about fake filters; I have ordered the same one on here for a while from this seller and no issues. Filters appear genuine and I won’t put anything else on my truck.

Great OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) filter! Fits my 2003 Ford Focus perfectly. Using an OEM filter is always a great choice for quality and a guaranteed fit.

These are longer than the FL910S that's recommended for this vehicle, but it fits perfect and clears the undertray. It has the bypass valve at the top of the filter so no dirty oil is recirculated into the engine. Being larger than the stock filter, it has more filter media, making it flow more freely. Amazon is the only place I can source these in Australia, but they're not always available.

Used this on my 2016 Focus ST with no issues at all. While it isn't the factory-spec filter for the car, it's a commonly used alternative that provides a bit of extra oil capacity. Installation was straightforward, fitment was perfect, and I've had no leaks or concerns during use. The slight increase in oil capacity was the main reason I chose it, bringing the oil fill a little closer to 6.0 quarts versus the factory setup. Overall, it's a genuine Motorcraft filter that does exactly what it's supposed to do.

I purchased this product for my Husquarvana LTH1842 lawnmower. They are a little longer than those supplied by Husqvarna but fit perfectly. If you have another lanmower type/engine google "aftermarket oil filters for..." (your model mower) for options. Motocraft is a brand I trust so I had no resevations in purchasing as a replacement for the Husqvarna supplied filter at many times the price.
