Whatever you do, make sure you select the frustration free option when ordering! Extremely well packaged in a sturdy box that I'm going to keep for future use, yes, it's that good. Now to the bulb...To start, let me say that I have owned my 36" Aqueon modular light fixture for more than 4 years now and it has performed flawlessly. It came with the usual one bulb, white with blue moon light option. I added a Color Max bulb about a month later to brighten the light and pull some more color. I was satisfied with the results.Those two bulbs are still going strong, all led's are working just fine. I saw the Beauty Max bulb and seen how it softened the light and added even more color to the tank. I decided to buy one for the third slot in my fixture. After some swapping around to get the effect I wanted, I settled on original white bulb in the rear slot, Beauty Max in the center slot, and Color Max in the front slot. Yes, where you install the bulb will change the overall look, so play around and find what works for you.In closing I would say that adding the Beauty Max bulb was well worth the price and achieved the color enhancement I was looking for. Please do not take my 4 star rating on brightness as a bad thing, it's just not as bright as the white bulb or the Color Max bulb. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to view some fish!R/Paul

I bought a tank lid for my new 20 Long and although it has room for two lights, it only came with one. With only one light my tank looked really sad; all the light was on the back of the tank, leaving the front really dark.This light fixed that. Now my tank is bright and the colors really pop. I get many compliments on my tank but I know a lot of it has to do with the lighting.

I bought these to go with my brand new aqueon led hood. I was disappointed to find that the hood came with only 1 bulb so I ordered 2 of these, 1 for each hood (55 gallon requiring two 24 inch hoods).The lights on the right are the ones that came with the hood, the ones on the left are these bulbs. This light isn't suitable for plant growth at all. It barely lights the tank and has a purple hue. I sent a message to the seller asking about this and all I received was an email, no directions, but it had a return label so I am assuming that means to return for a refund.

This is NOT a replacement for the normal bulb. This is only for led and will not fit in the normal hood. When you search the florescent bulb this shows up along with several other LEDs leading you to think they have the standard prongs but they dont these are for the led system only.Amazon needs to correct the description

Edit: Since I first reviewed this I spoke to Amazon customer service and explained the differences in my orders and I was told they would investigate to see if their stock was wrong. I'm happy that they are at least following up on a possible mixup, but I think I might be giving them another call...tonight I received an order of the 24-inch beauty max from a completely different supplier and it is exactly what I was looking for. It has the same pink color spectrum that my first 30-inch had and is completely different from the 2 24-inch ones I got from amazon.I've ordered this light 3 times by now and I've come to the conclusion that there is a mistake in boxing in the lot my bulbs came from. With the first one I accidentally ordered the wrong size in a 30 inch and started a return order for it, but ordered the right size immediately. When i received the new one, I put it right into my hood and noticed the lights had a greenish tint to them. Looking in my tank things seemed a bit washed out -- certainly not the pop of colors I expected, but when i crouched down and looked up through the surface of the water I could clearly see the red, green, and blue spectrum colors that the beauty max is supposed to have. Not satisfied and feeling like I was missing something, when I plugged in the 30 inch that I still had to compare colors, it was DEFINITELY pink and the tank looked great when i placed it in combination with the white light the hood came with. I figured there was a mistake with the box and ordered my third light. This one still came looking green!! I'm convinced this is a lot order mistake -- colors don't differ just between sizes. I'm returning them all and ordering from another source. Hopefully those will be what I'm looking for. The question still remains, what light is it that I received? It clearly has RGB colors in each led, but it's not the same as the white that came with my hood, it clearly doesn't seem to be the beauty max I wanted, it doesn't have the alternating white and red lights that the color max has, and it's certainly not the blue max. So I'm left super confused and disappointed.

Overall good light. It arrived unbroken and in good packaging. This light is the beauty max so it has a pink tint to it. My before photo was just the Daylight light that comes with the hood (which I think the leds are dimming since I’ve had it for a while. Bc it seemed to lose it brightness), the after photo is with the Daylight and Beauty max lights. Definitely brightened the fish tank like I wanted it to.

So, my very large bala shark had just your usual bright white lights in his 55 gallon tank and I thought I'd try some dimmer lights so it would help him to not be so jumpy. Well, they definitely have helped him calm down, he loves them. I can't believe the difference, he is so much calmer now! I'm am so glad I was able to find these, to make his home a lot less scary for him. lol Received fast and in great condition, also very easy to install.

It definitely brings out the oranges and reds in my fish, but mostly when they are close to the top of the tank. I have a 30 gallon tank. It didn't really make a huge difference in brightening, but more of a subtle brighter appearance. It has not increased any algae growth, which is great, because I am not the best on keeping to a regular cleaning schedule! I am happy with the purchase, I do believe although subtle, the colors of my fish are enhanced!

Beware the sizing on these tubes. The "Size 24" tube is an 18-inch tube to fit a 24-inch fixture. If you need a 24-inch long tube for a 30-inch long fixture, get the "Size 30" tube.

Could be a little brighter but appears to be working at growing low light plants

The lights are not great for growing plants in your tank, even if you have two of them. But they do consume little power and look good.

Not worth the price

It says it's 24 inches on package but he sent me only 16 inches. Such a waste of my time.
