Great Story
The Drittz stories are a great read for D&D fans to people who want a good adventure story with characters you care about. The books themselves are made very well and can handle wear and tear from active reading.

Awesome series
I love this series. It's written from the perspective of someone who clearly loves playing D&D and the story unfolds much like a great campaign. It's a bit character-centric (the main character Drizz't is a bit of a 'mary sue' type) but otherwise it's full of interesting characters, plots, action, and adventure. Perfect for ages 13+ and anyone who loves adventure.

Great book and series
Book 1 of the Legend of Drizzt series, Homeland, was a hard read at first with the long complicate names but once I got past that I really liked it and decided to keep reading. I've now read 25+ books from RA Salvatore and would recommend all Legend of Drizzt, Hunters Blade, Transitions, and Neverwinter books as great fantasy reads. Salvatore has such great character development and interesting new adventures that make you want to keep reading. There is a fair amount of fighting, if you're not into that I'd still recommend these books, just read through those parts fast.

One of the best Drizzt novels
Although it is somewhat heavy with intrigue and politics, which I normally dislike, I think this is one of the best Drizzt novels. There is some of everything in it, including sadness, lore, romance, and visceral combat. The main pair in the book is Regis and Drizzt, which is a curious pair that hasn't been done before. It works well though and they make an effective, and interesting, team.

Terrific!
This was one of the best books in the Drizzt saga! After 21 books, you know what you will get from Salvatore, but this, together with the Orc King, have been really good books even by themselves, without thinking that they are only part of a wider mosaic. This book is part of the Transition trilogy, and you can see how the world is transitioning through a different time, with characters evolving and with the world really changing under Drizzt steps. I've started reading the Drizzt saga when I was a kind and I've started again now that I'm much older, but Salvatore always manages to write good books, both for adults and YA.SPOILER ALERTYou can see how the Harpells have changed, but as Drizzt says, have they changed as a response of what's happening in the world, or have they changed because they have always been a bit cruel, and now is the time for them to show their true faces? And of course, the same happens in Luskan, with Deudermont trying to do the best thing, while destroying half of Luskan in the process.I also liked the short part about Wulfgar, who is usually the character I like the less. I've started to like Wulfgar only after he left Mithrall Hall to go back to Icewind Dale, but the Wulfgar we find here has transitioned from his old, and destroyed, self to a better being, a person now at peace with themselves.

Curiosity got the better of me
I was not sure I was going to like this book. I want to say that I would give this book 4 1/2 stars but I felt it deserved a round up rather then a round down. The thing I really like about these books is that the characters keep maturing and growing, and changing through their life experiences. It this book we get to see another side of Drizzt we is still introspective but he is a bit more open and jovial with his friends.I have always thought of Salvatore as a literal hitman. He is not afraid to kill off characters that he has built up, that kind of give his books a bit of a fear factor as I did not know which characters would be safe. Drizzt is taken to the limit of his moral and physical self. He has to decides to walk away from one fight to take part in another one. With all the manipulations in the background even Drizzt is over matched. There is a bit of a passing of the touch of moment in this book. I have to say it was done subtly I did not really see it coming.Being part of the Transitions Trilogy everyone will really need to read all the other Drizzt books to understand how much he characters have grown. Even characters that I I'd not particularly like (Wulfgar) I found new levels of respect for. A great book not a definitive ending like The Orc King: Forgotten Realms - Transitions Trilogy, Book 1 but a great story and it feels like it should bridge the gap between books one and three. Because of the fact that most part for this book is against wizards there are not as many individual fight scenes in the book till the last chapter. I do hope there will be a rematch or a reckoning in the next book. The Orc King: Forgotten Realms - Transitions Trilogy, Book 1
