Sol-Searcher is the safe and easy way to find the Sun. It is absolutely safe since you don't look through Sol-Searcher, you look at it. The aperture acts as a "pinhole" which projects an image of the Sun on to the 1/4" translucent "screen." This screen can be viewed from either side. Simply move your scope until the Sun's image is centered on the screen and the Sun will be in the eyepiece's field of view. The Sol-Searcher attaches to the mount ring slot of every Tele Vue telescope (or to the rear cell slot in the Tele Vue Ranger). For use with telescopes other than Tele Vue, mount the Sol-Searcher using #10-32 screws, or if necessary, attach with Velcro (not supplied). Sol Searcher can also be made into a quick-release accessory when mounted on QRD-1006 (Dovetail) used with QRB-1002 (Quick-release bracket)

Perfect for solar observing.
This is an insanely simple, but brilliant, effective, design. Used it for an eclipse several years back and was stunned at how easy it was to manually track the sun without going to the eyepiece.

Safe and foolproof way to get sun in telescope FOV
This solar finder is a simple, safe, and foolproof way to get the sun into your telescope's field of view. I attached mine to this adapter (YUEOCT Adapter Mount with 1/4" Mounting Screw for Finderscope Dovetail Base https://a.co/d/g8Nhoty) to mount in the dovetail finderscope rail of my Orion telescope.

Wish it came with a dovetail base.
This unfortunately doesn't come with anyway to attach it to a large SCT other than a suggestion for ducktape. It itself, is very good quality, it is adjustable to within a limit and definitely improves the ease of locating the sun without having to guess using the shadow of the scope or general tilt, etc. Definitely worth it. I have ordered an adapter which will allow me to attach and detach it using my dovetail base I use for my telrad and skysense camera.

Quality, ease of use, cost.
Lunt recommends this finder for their solar scopes. I use the SolSearcher with my Lunt 60mm pressure tuned solar scope. The SolSearcher fits perfectly, and it works so easily. I usually can center the sun in less than 30 seconds, safely. A simple yet very effective product. Just be sure that it can be fastened to your scope.

This is an excellent addition to any kind of small telescope [typically less than a 3" refractor] being used to look at the sun with an appropriate objective lens solar filter. It makes it easy to manually point your telescope so that with a low magnification lens [such a 40 mm focal length 1.25" eyepiece] the full disc of the sun will be seen through the telescope if the the image of the sun is roughly centered on the little viewing screen. You may need to adjust the scope so the sun is centered in the eyepiece and then make small adjustments to the solar finder so the image is centered on the little screen.

Simple and effective
For a couple weeks after buying my solar scope, I was using shadow to try to find the sun, then a 40 mm EP to try to pinpoint it. This would sometimes take 5-10 minutes so with that amount of time, I'd have to reposition by shadow again. Very frustrating. I finally broke down and bought this and should have done it on day 1! Such a simple little device but after it's adjusted for your scope is spot on, even after removing it from my scope several times. It is very, very easy to calibrate it to your scope with 2 small Allen screws. It comes with 2 Allen wrenches. One to adjust it and one for the larger mounting Allen bolts. It is plastic but heavy duty plastic, not flimsy at all. Comes with sensible instructions on how to mount, calibrate and use. It you sun gaze, you absolutely need this.
