Barmah Hats Squashy Bronco Cooper Crossing Leather Hat - Item 1022

A warning to all, the sizes are definitely small. However, I must have been overzealous with my head-size when I ordered this. I accidentally got the perfect fit.I normally don't leave reviews, but this hat has become my excalibur since I bought it almost three years ago. As a geology student, I have had a unique opportunity to test this in the field for long periods of time. Whether it was on the Gulf of Mexico beaches, the deserts of Big Bend NP, the formidable Grand Canyon, and the months spent doing field work in Montana/Colorado, this hat held up extremely well in all conditions. During field seasons, it was subject to dry, direct sunlight for up to 11-13 hours a day for 3-5 weeks (depending on the project). In these areas, this hat did a very good job at protecting me from the sun and withstanding being drenched in sweat. After using a damp rag to clean the outside, I just used mink oil to replenish the leather (but only required to do so after 2 years of use, I first did so in summer 2015). In wetter climates, this hat has been absolutely drenched, and in one case, under water. The original oil or leather conditioner is extremely resistant to absorbing deep into the leather. The underside is usually always dry in non-torrential conditions. The only time I have ever had to maintain my hat in this time was after getting it drenched and covered in fine sediment. it must have stripped the conditioner and dehydrated the leather somehow. After an application of mink oil it was good to go and looked even in color, once again.As an aside, I constantly get compliments on the hat from too many people to even remember over the years. As a shy person, it was refreshing when other people broke the ice by striking up a conversation about my hat. It's simple, it's serious, and it looks GOOD. The years of abuse have only improved the look and feel of the hat.The only one problem I can think of is that the adhesive holding down the hat band is worn off after three years of sun, sweat, mud, and water. The stitching, however, is holding in place. Unless i were to try and flip my hat band up or pull it off, I don't think it is going anywhere anytime soon.

Really loving this hat. It is sturdy, durable, fits perfectly, & it looks great. This is the "Rustic" version, which offers a rugged, weathered, appearance. (Note if you choose the Rustic variant marks & flaws are normal. Choose another color if you desire a more pristine finish.)The leather is thick, weather resistant, & the brim is wire reinforced to maintain its shape. The crown is vented, & there are eyelets to attach a chin strap should you so desire. The trim & two-tone "Cooper Crossing" band with Barmah button is sewed in place & provides a nice contrast. The XL fits my 23" shaved skull perfectly without need for the included hat sizers.This hat is an excellent choice if you are looking for an everyday hat that you won't need to worry about mucking up. It will hold up to everything you throw at it & just get better with age. Kudos, Barmah!UPDATE - Added the Black version to the collection. Extremely soft & supple leather with a nice & even satin finish. Fits perfectly, the brim is properly shaped, & the two-tone Cooper Crossing band really sets things off. Very pleased. From the tag it appears Amy has a new helper!

I want to rate this hat higher, I tried one on at a store and they didn't have my size so I ordered from Amazon. Problem is the hat has what I feel are some craftsmanship issues. The leather on the brim portion has two distinct creases that look like imperfections in the leather. Also what appears to be a gouge or cut mark in the top part in the rear. The tassle in the back was cut off really short, like half the width of the brim, and is nothing like in the photos or the one I tried on in the store that has tassles that went to the back edge of the brim. It's a decent hat for the price and I'll probably give this company another try. I'd like to have the "cooler" model of this hat. Maybe I'm too picky with my first brim style hat. I wasn't expecting Stetson or C1 quality or perfection but I am somewhat disappointed in what I received. I've coated it with mink oil so it's not returnable now, and I'll wear it a lot so hopefully the imperfections will not weigh as heavily in time as it is broken in and I get some compliments on it, which have already happened.

Such a great hat imma buy it again for a friend!

A little bit thin leather, but not flimsy. Beautifull Tough.

I like the color, I like the fit, I like the style. I like everything about it. I have never bought a hat online, was afraid too. But they send some strips that help size the hat, that's a good idea. Would purchase here again.
