Great solution to a common problem.
Perfect tool for removing the oil filter housing cap off an E39 BMW, and other vehicles which use a similar canister style filter housing. Grips the housing perfectly, no chance of screwing things up by using channel locks, etc. Generally not a fan of uni-task type tools, but this is a must if you work on your own vehicles.

Specialty socket for BMW and other brands
I bought this for the filter housing cap on our BMW. While it works fine and seems to be of good quality, it's a bit oversized for the 36mm hex nut on the BMW filter housing. So instead of 5 stars I'm giving 4. But it still worked.

Finally got my Filter Cover off...phew
Got the oil filter housing off of my 07 GTI, so it worked perfectly as designed. Will definitely work for all VW's with the FSI engine type, where the filter is located on the bottom of the engine block.
